    Hi Guys

    To start with today:

The NZ World Cup Softball team hammered Australia by 9 runs to 2.

The NZ U23 Soccer Team drew with the Australian Team 1-1. However the Aussies will go onto the Olympics with a 3-1 aggregate. Well done guys.

However just to dredge up some old news have a read of this.

Dramatic Admission Over Underarm Bowl31/01/2004 11:11 AM Newstalk ZB

A day out from the anniversary of the most controversial trans-Tasman sporting incident, the man at the centre of the drama has made an extraordinary admission.

Former Australian cricket captain Greg Chappell says he was unfit to lead his country on the day he ordered his brother to bowl an underarm delivery to New Zealand batsman Brian McKechnie.

Chappell ordered his brother Trevor to bowl the last ball of the World Series decider along the ground to New Zealand number 10 Brian McKechnie, in order to prevent him hitting the ball in the air over the boundary for a six to tie the game up.

That ensured Australia clinched the match and the series by six runs.

Chappell says he made the decision after suffering a mental and physical breakdown.

He calls it ‘a cry for help’ and was disappointed no-one else in Australian cricket management appreciated his situation.

At a media conference shortly afterwards, New Zealand prime minister Sir Robert Muldoon called the underarm delivery an act of cowardice.

Since that day in 1981, Chappell has apologised for his decision on several occasions.

Well I ask you? Sure some funny selections in the Ausie cricket team.
Well, NZ always has some funny selections in their team.

    Hi all

yes i do believe an apology is in order and i would like to make it.

    (as i have previously said)
For that terrible bit of sportsmanship shown in that game i would like to apologize, it was disgusting and hopefully will never happen again, so on behalf of all New Zealand sorry for the way the Kiwi batsman behaved, he should never have thrown that bataway after Trevors Fair and lawful delivery.

(look what happened when Dirk Wellham swung his bat , he collected some poor lady right on the Chin, her jaw went for 6).

    Hi Westan

No I didn’t want an apology from you for what big brother persuaded little brother to do (but thanks) I would probably have done the same too.

Just post snippets of sports results played between our two countries and have a quiet dig whenever one beats the other.

Like the Kingz went down again and again last night.
But the Breakers had a good win to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Now what game do they play in Melbourne where these guys run around in very tight fitting pants and short sleeved singlets? And the biggest part of the crowd are made of females.
Austraian Rulz I think someone said. Seeing as how only Aussies play it, no wonder Australia Rulz.

    Hi Westan,

Did you know the woman Dirk Wellham hit is actually Barb? The large-ish Carlton supporter that the Footy Show sometimes has on?

    Cheers

Muppet You had better read my appology again, i appologized to Australia for our (Kiwi hat on) behaviour.

and finally if Chappel keep apologizing when are “we” going to accept it, it’s just under the surface with every kiwi.

    bye westan

Hey muppet did “we” win anything today?
No. just like every other day Huh ?

Gee did you watch those Aussies against India AWESOME Brett Lee steeped up , Gilchrist and Simons incedible, boy “you” Aussies are amazing sportsmen.

    Hi Guys

The top finisher from Australasia in the rich Johnny Walker Classic Golf Tourny was the NZer David Smail who finished fourth, 3 strokes from the lead.
Scott Gardiner from Aust finished 1 shot behind Smail.

    Hi Westan

Auckland is the top team in NZ at the moment.
NPC champions and Ranfurly Shield holders

Also the Blues(Auckland) are the Super 12 Champs.

However Otago are in the top 4 or so and always hard to beat at home.

Have a very strong scarffy support(uni students) group.

The Aussie softball team just beat Canada 3-2 today.

    Hi Westan

Auckland is the most hated team.

Everybody south of the Bombay Hills can’t stand Auck.

However Canterbury have a very enthusiastic supporters group as well.

I haven’t mentioned the scrubbers yet. That was last season.

    Hey muppet

how about we keep a tally (everyone help, of aussie v kiwi’s)

we can start from the beginning of 2004

    you said
the Kiwi’s beat us in softball so that’s 1 and we beat you in …. nothing that i can think of ???

but to make it Fair you get 4 points for every win, we get 1 point.

It think that this is fair because of your smaller population and lower thinking capacity.

sound fair? i’ll give you a few minutes to read and reread to you understand.

so the tally is NZ 4
    Aust 0

No you’re right with me, but Muppet ???

now muppett with my scoring i think finals are worth triple points for instance looking at the softball if for example the aussie girls beat the NZ girls in the final it has to be worth more points.

so Australian World champ (gee Muppett you know your sports)
    NZ 4
    Oz 3 (but catching up).
