When do we start to engage the Professional Services of an Accountant and QS? Is it before or after Settlement Day? Or can it wait until the end of the Financial Year?

The other thing is, when we buy an apartment we’ll get a depreciation schedule from the Vendor/Developer. Is this enough for the accountant to work on or do we still need a QS to work it out?

Sorry when the above questons have been asked before. Thanks for the input!

    Hi Prop

You can wait until the end of they FY (or even into the next – but before you do your tax return) for your QS report. I still have not had one done for a property I settled last December (I need to pull my finger out!).

I would not rely on the schedule you get from the vendor, they won’t be quite as specific as a QS, so you could be missing out on some more depreciation.

    Cheers
    Mel

    Thanks Mel,

I’ll organize the QS Report asap after Settlement Day before it gets dearer.
