I often copy interesting posts and save them on my computer.

I find however that on this site I am unable to
    Copy and Paste (posts) !!!

I understand that the reason for this function having been blocked was so as to prevent some of the articles being copied but is it really necessary to also apply this to the posts ?

    Hi Pisces133,

I have no problem in Copy/Paste posts from this forum. I just highlight what I want, Ctrl/C then Ctrl/V in Word.

    Cheers

Ctl C and thence Ctl V doesn’t work for me on this forum.

    It does on other foums.

The moderator came up with the same suggestion so I am still stuck with the question why it works on other forums and not on this one.

I wonder whether others have the same experience ?

I have actually discovered this morning a way how to do it though I would prefer to it the conventional way (Copy and paste that is [:D]

If I copy the text and thence paste it just as if I was writing a reply I can thence copy it to a page in my Word program.

    PeterM

    having no trouble here either!!??

1/ I just highlight area with left click of mouse and drag over text.

2/ right click on mouse, select copy

3/ left click on word from toolbar

4/ Paste into word… heck, sometimes i even do this the opposite way to insert the text (after i’ve spellchecked it) into my post. Same for my e-mails, type in word then post into compose and then [:D]

As you say no reason for the site to do it as all you have to do is copy it word for word anyway..

OH YEH.. i’m using windows 98 and internet explorer, “broadband also” 4 “SPEED”[^]

Im on NT and IE at work.

and Win98 and IE at home.

    They both work ok.

    – Just hold the left mouse key down and drag over the text.
    – press “Control – C” (copy)
    – then you can “Control V” (paste) into any windows application.

Correction, I am using Windows2000, not WINNT.
    Also Internet Explorer Version 6.0

I also have some problem with (very few) attachments to emails. I can open them but not print.

Have you tried going to the microsoft web page and searching for windows2000 patches ?.. the page actually checks your system and gives you the option to download the patches…. [^][^]

Arty, I cannot see why a patch would be the solution.

After all I have no difficulty copying and pasting from other websites.

Hmm, this forum must have a special facility to detect frequent users of Copy function & disable them. [:D]

    Hi All,

I’ve had problems with this copy and paste scenario as well. I wanted to copy my own post and thread and wasn’t able to do so.

    PeterM
I also have some problem with (very few) attachments to emails. I can open them but not print. Can you save these on to your comp and then print or can’t access at all?

    Hi Peter,

    I’m using W2000 and IE5 too.
Usually I just highlight the topic here, right click, copy, open Word, right click and paste.
Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V works as well, but we only need one hand for the previous.
    No problems.

    Hey all,

To those having problems with the copying and pastingc oould i recommend that you go to the microsoft web site and download the latest updates for your computer. 9 out of 10 times this is the problem. Go to this website, and push the button that says Scan for updates.

    http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp

If you don’t want to do that then an alternative way is to go, File – Save As – and then in the drop down box that says “Save as type” select HTML only, and then choose where you want to save. Most probably best to save it on the desktop. THen open the file on your desktop, you won’t get all of the emoticons [:P], but you have the text, so you can copy it from there.

    Hope this helps.

I have now downloaded and installed the Microsoft patches but the problem still persists !!??

As is clear, I am not the only one who experiences problems.

To summarise, I cannot do what I do on other websites i.e. Copy and Paste a post to Microsoft Word.

The only way I can actually Copy and Paste is by
starting a reply to the Post and thence Paste the text (which I want to copy) onto the ‘Reply to Post’ page and only then can I Copy and Paste from that ‘Reply to Post’ page to a Word page. (which is rather cumbersome way of doing it).

Thanks for trying to assist guys.
