    Hi all

    Question??
When looking for a Building Inspector to do reports, what should I be looking for with regards to Certs and Membership etc that he should have.
Also I’ve found out that a Pest Control Examiner should have is:-
    Be Insured
    At least Certificate 2
Be a member of the AEPMA
Is there anything else they should have, your input would be appreciated.

    Hi Keith,

I believe anyone inspecting a property should be a registered builder. Not sure about Pest Control though, but always ensure they carry out their inspection inline with the relevant Australian standard.

AS 4349 “Inspections of buildings. Part 3: Timber Pest Inspections”

    Cheers

    Hi Keith,

The only thing to add for the pest control is that the timber pest report should be done to as4349.3 (which covers all timber pests and not just termites) and the pesty should be conversant with this standard. If he doesn’t know it, DO NOT USE HIM. I am a pesty in WA and am continually blown away by the cowboys in the industry. It can also be a bit depressing as it sometimes gives the good ones a bad name [:(!]

    Anyway, I hope that helps.

    Steve.
