]Amit.. I filled up one of the servers “temp” partition (it was a total accident!) I was creating over 70,000 PDF files to be burnt to CD.
Before I know it, “everyone” couldnt use “mail”, and they got an alarm every 15 seconds telling them that the temp area was full…. That caused about an hour of panic.. but on my part … LOL

My another story..
I was archiving one of my online project and in the process software sent out email to every one in my department saying their project will be archived in 5 minutes. At a time we run 100+ projects. []Every one started asking me how to stop and what to do etc… Some how I manage to stop archiving their project since that day I haven’t tried archiving any project and told my boss to find some other solution to do this ( like buying more hard disk etc )

]Many years ago, I was working in a Victorian Hospital (name unknown to protect me..LOL)
Anyway, they had many systems, one of which was dedicated to development. Well this day was quiet and boring, so at that time I was curious how viruses spread, so I did the research and played with a “tiny” script. I ran it on this UNIX system, it simply copies itself and creates a new filename…. ie “test” will create “test.1, test.2, etc”… “test.1″ would create test.1.1, test 1.2, etc.. ” so each file creates 1000 files, which create 1000 files.
Seemed like fun at the time…. Within 3 minutes I couldnt stop the processes, there were too many to stop them all, and the filesystem filled up, which crashed the machine. [
]Lucky it was only a development machine… and I was the only developer on that box when it crashed.. [
]I havent done that since… been tempted though….[

Oh and I took it away becasue you never can tell with some people I once sent a “net send” the screen that pops up on your monitor that the guy had virus a and would start melting his hard drive in 20 seconds. He started to delete everything to try to get rid of it [
]oh well thank goodness for backups [
]..I scared someone with a DOS script once. When you start the puter, instead of going into windows it runs a DOS script….
something like this…..“A problem has been detected…”
“Removing all files now…. “(it listed the files on the system… )
