    Hi getting there,

I believe the short answer is NO.

However, there are still a couple of exemptions to that rule, as we asked that question not long ago. I can’t remember what the exemptions are at this minute, and so before you sign anything, check with your solicitor.

    Hope this helps a bit.

If I was you I would give Revenue SA a call. See http://www.revenuesa.sa.gov.au/enquiries.html. They don’t seem to have much info in their site.

    Cheers

    Hi getting there,

    I think wilandel is right.

I know that in WA, there’s a concessional stamp duty rate that applies if you’re buying a PPOR for $185,000 or less. And if you’re buying your first home, you also get an additional $500 rebate (this is separate from the FHOG).

Sohuld be worth checking if there’s anything like this in the State you live in. If you want to have a look at the relevant stamp duty act, check out austlii.edu.au

    Cheers

    getting there

I made a post on the wrap forum page a couple of days ago about the only stamp duty exemption available you might want to have a look at it in case you fit the criteria.

    Cheers
