Migrants on move send housing through the roof.

*NSW housing shortage of 22,000 homes by June 2004, driving another boom into 20005/2006.

    * Demand for new houses in Victoria will rise from 3300 homes a year to 36,900 a year due to migrants and high demolitions.

*QLD will need 41,500 new homes each year for the next five years with a flood of international and interstate migrants.

*SA will have excess homes by June 2004

*TAS will have 1500 too many.

*NT has 3000 too many but oil and gas projects will drive demand for 1600 extra houses a year.

That is what I read about Tasmania and is my feeling when I recently visitied and things did’t seem very different from 15 years ago.
I think those sort of statistics are absolutely vital to know as a property investor.
