steveSteve McKnight is a respected property investor, accomplished author, and media commentator.

Prior to 1999, McKnight, a qualified chartered accountant worked for international accounting firm Deloitte before starting his own accounting practice and specialising in audit and management consulting. He sold the practice in 2006.

McKnight’s first investment property was bought in May 1999 for $44,000. It was a 3-bedroom ex-commission home in West Wendouree, Ballarat that rented for $120 per week.

Since buying his first property, McKnight has used his investment philosophies to complete over 550 property transactions. Aside from acquiring property in Australia, McKnight has also bought large numbers of properties in New Zealand and the United States of America.

He was approached by John Wiley & Sons to write investment books, and has gone on to become one of Australia’s most successful real estate authors. His first book From 0 to 130 Properties in 3.5 Years has sold more than 160,000 copies and was the top business book in 2004. He also wrote From 0 to 260+ Properties in 7 Years, the sequel to his first book – also a #1 best-seller.

More recently McKnight has been busy writing and producing PropertyInvesting.com’s ‘Property Apprenticeship’: Australia’s first nationally recognised training program for property investors. Over 66 weeks, property apprentices learn how to analyse, buy, manage and sell property and graduates receive a Certificate IV in Business.

McKnight’s areas of expertise include residential property, commercial property, property related finance matters, general comments about economic activity including interest rates, property related statistics.

McKnight co-founded and remains the resident expert on PropertyInvesting.com – an independent community for property investors to share ideas and help each other. Currently there are over 90,000 registered members.

In 2012, the Passive Income (USA Commercial Property) Fund – a capped $75m Australian managed investment scheme that provides Aussie investors with the opportunity to have Steve McKnight and his hand-picked team manage and drive their investment returns was established. McKnight is the current Chairman and the largest single investor in the Fund.

McKnight’s comments and opinions about real estate and finance are regularly sought by various media organisations, including TV, radio and print media.

He has spoken on real estate at various seminar and forums throughout Australia, and in New Zealand, Canada, Malaysia and the United States.

McKnight is married with two children. He resides in Melbourne.
