    John,

Nice to see you adding to this…

We have to get something going again…..

I’m only back to Oz earliest Jun/Jul so am unable to help…. ( for Qld )……

Sad to see it like this…. But we HAVE to move forward or we will end up with legislation drafted up, based on misinformation sprouted by <edited> the likes of Jenman and others…..

You may know the cost of everything…. but what about the value ????

Terry – Michael G. handed over to the new President at some point after the last AGM. I’m sure he has her contact details.

John – great to see you back :-) If it has to be March so be it. I’m sure the “Mexican” crew wouldn’t dream of starting without you ;-) Also a great idea about having informal meetings, outsde the VFA structure. This makes the startup (or re-start) even more simple, i.e. it’s probably not necessary to get straight into any new associations initially.

I believe creating a groundswell of interest in the meetings is the first goal and I must admit that I’ve been formulating a list of potential guest speakers which looks impressive. I know I’d definitely like to hear from them!

Pelican (?) – you’ll just have tocome back early old son. Qld needs you :-)

    Cheers, Paul

    Hello,
in answer to my comment about never having been to a Steve seminar, I remember being interviewed and it became obvious from the beginning that the interview was really a set up for an industry bashing with the interviewer to set both Steve and myself up and pitch us against each other

At the time I made the statement to the journo my intent was to move the conversation into a more positive direction and away from the negative direction it was leading

Although I have not participated in Steve’s more recent events, I actually did attended one of Steve’s earlier events at the university in Sydney and found it to be of great value as well as purchasing one of Steve’s courses which I have also found to be great value as well as his book.

Seems to me, if you enjoy golf it is probably best to buy every book on golf!

    re the association…

Jack Dempsey is the current President of the association and I’ve offered to help out this year as it would be great to recharge the association. His number is 0405475764

Some very positive ideas on this thread. I think Steve’s point about the cost involved in setting up something like the VFA is very valid. Certainly it mostly started because Rick devoted an enormous amount of his time, money and office resources to the project. Without him it never would have begun. So thanks Rick!
Regarding Victoria, Lewis O’Brien (one of the main wrap lawyers in Melbourne) is planning to run an information night in mid February. Perhaps this would be a good opportunity to get Vic wrappers together and maybe work out where we would like to go from here. I’m sure if it was discussed with Lewis before hand, he’d be happy to be involved. He certainly doesn’t like rogue wrappers either!

    Keep smiling

    Hi again, re the interview

I refused to do the current affair interview and it was agreed to only at the last minute under two conditions
A/ I would only talk about the association with I was the spokes person for at the time but not the President
B/ I received the questions in advance

Neither of these two things happened and unfortunately asking cameras to be turned off usually comes across worse

Questions about my business were not answered as the interview was not granted in order to discuss my business!

Perhaps it would be better to put more effort into State branches and have the federal branch more to do with lobbying the Fed. Gov.

I think State branches would help more as it would be easier for members to meet up and also the State branches could lobby each of the State Govs. directly (kind of like Real Estate Institute of Australia (REIA) that lobbys the Fed Gov, while REINSW lobbys the NSW Gov.).

    Hi Lucifer_au

Couldn’t agree with you more. Any suggestions from the NSW “vendor financiers” ;-) for a time and a place for the first NSW meeting? My personal preference is sometime in Feb.

Taking a leaf out of Felicity’s book, I propose Tony Cordato as NSW’s first guest speaker. I’ll wait a couple of days before contacting Tony to make sure people don’t have a problem with this.

Also I don’t want to be seen as stepping on any toes here so if Jack Dempsey or Rick want to slide in here and take over the organising of this meeting, please just say the word.

Re the location. We have quite a number of people in Sydney and quite a few in Newcastle and elsewhere. My 2 cents worth for the location of the first meeting is somewhere on the Central Coast (half way).

    Any other ideas?

    Cheers, Paul

Feb is fine by me. But early Feb Felicity is away (11th of Feb she goes to NZ) and late Feb (27th) I’ll be away.

Perhaps late Jan or early, early Feb (or do you think thats to early?).

Also I have some free (commercial) web space available too.

As to where to meet?… I’m very flexible (and will travel).

In terms of stepping on toes, the VFA has done a pretty decent job (and Rick and Michael should be proud of what they have achieved), but I think because of the scale of what was required it was always going to be a very large task. I think a organisations based around State lines would be more useful in terms of know-how (each State really has their own tweaks & twists in regards to the UCCC), education, finding new members (because the VFA has held meetings in a variety of different States, continuity is hard to keep up, as well as getting new members to join) and in terms of lobbying state govs.

    Robert,

To the initial posts on this thread. Both Rick & Jane Otton has been a fantastic help in providing practical advise and information on trading properties for the Australian Conditions.
