    Subject: Heat, light and God.

This is great! Never saw it explained this way before . . . Simple & clear!!

Did God create Evil? This will make you think for a while.

At a certain college there was a professor with a reputation for being tough on Christians. At the first class, every semester, he asked if
anyone was a Christian and proceeded to degrade them and to mock their statement of faith.

One semester, he asked the question and a young man raised his hand.

The professor asked, “Did God make everything young man?”

He replied “Yes sir he did!”

The professor responded, “IF God made everything, then he made evil”

The student didn’t have a response and the professor was happy to once again proved the Christian faith to be a myth. Then another man raised his hand and asked, “May I ask you something, sir?”

“Yes, you may,” responded the professor.

The young man stood up and said, “Sir, is there such a thing as cold?”

“Of course there is, what kind of a question is that? Haven’t you ever been cold?”

The young man replied, “Actually, sir, cold doesn’t exist. What we consider to be cold, is really an absence of heat. Absolute zero is when there is absolutely no heat, but cold does not really exist. We have only created that term to describe how we feel when heat is not there.”

The young man continued, Sir, is there such a thing as dark?”

Once again the professor responded, “Of course there is.”

And once again, the student replied, “Actually, sir, darkness does not exist. Darkness is really only the absence of light. Darkness is only a term developed to describe what happens when there is no light present.”

Finally, the young man asked, “Sir, is there such a thing as evil?”

The professor responded, “Of course, we have rapes, murders and violence everywhere in the world, Those thing are evil.”

The student replied, “Actually, sir, evil does not exist. Evil is simply the absence of God. Evil is a term developed to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. It isn’t like truth, or love which exist as virtues like heat or light. Evil is simply the state where God is not present, like cold without heat, or darkness without light.”

The professor had nothing to say…………….

Be full of Christ today, there is no room for anything else . .[biggrin]

Heat, Light and ergh,…evolution? One Christian said to me at a party once that the world is 12000 years old! I asked him how he came to that figure? I was told that he added up all the ages of everyone in the Bible since Adam and Eve and it’s roughly 12000 years. I then asked him if I could ask him a question. He said sure, fine. I asked him if the world’s 12000 years old then what about dinosaurs? I mean you’d think that dinosaurs would be included in the good book. He told me that God put them here to test our faith. At this point, I scratched my head and could only say, “Dude, I think God put YOU here to test my faith!”

    Gatsby, I love it!!

Oh, the things our little human minds to to try and know the unknowable.

Brenda, it makes perfect sense to me. Turn on the light and the darkness is gone. Turn on the light and the dark things scream and have nowhere to hide.

I think you will find that most Christians believe the earth is a lot older than 12000 years. I am a Christian and think the earth is millions of years old.

    Agile,
At the end of the party he offered me a coffee and I took a look at his lack of opposable thumbs and declined on the coffee. I didn’t want to be awake any longer with this guy!

It is written in the Bible, that to God, one day is as a thousand years and a thousand years is as one day. There is no time limit with God.

Actually, if you add all the ages of those in the Bible, you will come to find that humans have been here for about 7000 years in total as some generations over-lapped.

The sun (light) was not created until the fourth day so there was no rotation of 24hrs until the fourth day. The dinosaurs could have been around for thousands of years (in the first 3 days).

    Kind regards,
    George.

    Ooooooooooohhhh!!! SO MUCH TO SAY!!

But what is that saying “never discuss religion or politics”??

I was discussing the election result with a close friend last week and despite the logic I kept repeating he would not acknowledge it!!! That’s when I thought to myself “ah, I know where that saying comes from now”. I have similar discussions with him about religion also, and we can’t even agree to disagree!!!

So if I can’t sort it out with a close mate I better bow out now on this thread!!

    Cheers,

The thing is, that everyone’s ideas and opinions are acceptable so long as they are not forced upon anyone. My opinions included.

a friend and i have a bad habit of reading books on science then arguing the point (mostly when we’re drunk). the one that comes up often is the force of nature. i wont go into the details (i dont want to start a riot) but our arguments normally go on for hours, with neither of us winning. its always good for a laugh. OOOH shaun!!

I have a wicked link for you then,

    http://brucelipton.com/

a cellular biologist, totally legit, used to teach medicine at a US University, soooo fascinating – !!!!!!

Also do you read the quantum physics stuff like the turning point ????

I went to a lecture with Bruce on his recent visit to australia and the guy is a total genius at the cutting edge of discoveries that could literally change the world (well, the newtonian model of medicine, anyway!) and for anyone who’s a ‘believer’ in anything from Antony Robbins stuff to God, we already knew that anyway and we’re exciting that science seems to be catching up. slo-o-oo==wly…..

“Dr. Bruce Lipton is a former medical school professor (University of Wisconsin) and research scientist (Stanford University School of Medicine). His experiments, examining in great detail the molecular mechanisms by which cells process information, have revealed that genes do not in fact control our behavior, instead, genes are turned on and off by influences outside the cell. These influences include our perceptions and beliefs. He shows that our beliefs‹true or false, positive or negative‹affect genetic activity and actually alter our genetic code. Dr. Lipton∂s profoundly hopeful work, being hailed as one of the major breakthroughs in the New Sciences, shows how we can retrain our consciousness to create healthy beliefs, and by doing so create a profoundly positive effect on our bodies and our lives.”

    cheers-

    Hi Mig

i’m amazed how many people on this forum are christians.

i’m another one. A lot of the christians on the forum who i’ve met are really interested in wealth creation so they can get time back in their lives to do the important things in life -like time with family and making the world a better place.

    regards westan

When your in God’s company, then you’re in Great company

…Yes Im Christian…but there is a difference between a Christian by name and Christian by faith and deeds.

You see, Christian comes from Christ and ian where ian means follower thus meaning Christ follower – now do we truly follow Christ in all His ways.

    Regards,
    George.

i am someone who wants to believe. i would love to have faith and to me GOD makes sense. but what i dont have is the ability to take a LEAP OF FAITH….and say that jesus is the son of god…..

something inside tells me that religion is cultural and the largest detrmining factor on peoples faith is ‘where you are born’. if one is born in India they are more than likely gonna be hindu. if born in thailand – buddhist, miuddle east muslim and if born in a western country – christian….

i have seen faith been discussed in many different countries and forums by many great people – and the best of these people have genuine faith that there god is the right god – and the only commom link is where they are born. otherwise the strength of there faith is equal amongst all..

i admire those with definative faith – but its not for me. i beleive in a god, i believe that good is rewarded – but there are some things we humans just dont know!!!

    Hello Aussie Rogue

That was the position l took for many years after the black and white certainties of youth had given away to the greys (not in the hair!!, well yeah some) of maturity. Faith is such a personal thing that l could only talk of it in terms of what it means to me.

But be assured you are a ‘Child of the Universe’ either way you look at it.
    – As a scientist the atoms we are made of were created in the heart of dying stars
    – As a person of Faith you were created by your God

That’s my thought for the day

    Steve
