Hi all, just scanning the pages and came across the post. Certainly a variety of thoughts and comments. Just want to encourage you that the SA market is still strong if you look for the deal that no one else can or wants to make work. Having said this, yes – there is an element of risk involved. Others call this ingenuity.
For those from interstate – yes the prices may seem a little cheaper, but think about the reason *why* this is so. The answer (IMHO) is that people generally earn less that in, lets say Victoria. This translates into weekly payments as well – these people have less to spend on your property.
The deals are out there, and yes, I’ve bought a couple of properties recently.

i just spent last week travelling SA (i’m from canberra) and this is what i’ve found out.
there are definetly pos geared properties out there. dont even bother with broken hill, the mines are closing down (i asked the local publican).
dont buy in a town where there is not a ATM machine in the main street (this will save you time when looking)
i did end up in a town in which it had a mcdonalds, all the major banks there and on the coast plus plenty of employment (though the pensioners were starting to move in). all properties were around 50 – 70k and all pos cashflow. they were in the windows of the RE agents. i kid you not i found 6 IPs in about 15 minutes of being in this town and this was just what was advertised in their windows!. i didnt buy any as apparently there is alot of lead in the soil/water. children there currently have high lead levels in theirs bodies which has me a bit concerned as does the investigation going on at present. and no i’m not going to tell you where to find them. but i assure you they are there, if you just get motivated and physically search for them. you wont find them on the net.

town in Adelaide would have to be the Port Adelaide area, The sa. gov has just released that they are spending $200 mil on the area, along with a Marina.
Iv’e just bought one in the largs
area selling it as a house & land package. All of the one’s Iv’e built in SA. have sold in two weeks,[cigar][cigar]You can’t out fox the siver fox.
