    Brent,

I don’t know if this might happen for the Perth show… but in sydney, if you buy the Money Magazine, you get a free ticket to the show in the mag. If Money Mag is sponsoring the show, then it might be the same deal there.

Redwing, might be able to answer that question as went to the show today (Friday). Steve has a digital copy at the show, but they are not available for sale yet, still being printed, estimate was that they will be on bookshop shelves at end of Sept.

Also Steve’s talk and meeting Steve and Brent was the highlight of the show. Other than that, it is really quite small, there are other speakers as well, but didn’t find them as informative, or perhaps it’s just that they aren’t suiting the investment path I have started to travel and intend to continue travelling at this stage.

Still, is worthwhile to go in to hear Steve and meet Steve and Brent if you get the chance. Friday was very quiet in there, so it was easy to meet them, I do hope Saturday and Sunday are a bit busier, will be interested in feedback from poeple that go in on either of these days.

    Regards

    Hi PK

Went to the show, was still reasonably quiet on Sat also, though it picked up around midday

met Steve and Brent also, listened to Steve speak and Margaret Lomas, which was great.

Steve spoke about “Multiplication by Division” which we’ve all recieved via e-mail before, however it was great to hear him talk about it, and present it in Powerpoint format the size of a house. He actually has a good sense of humour.[biggrin]

The InvestorIQ stand was great (free minties too)www.investoriq.com.au i picked up “Smart Kids Make Money” the system that teaches kids smart money management ( a WA developed system)for my six year old, as he’s now into ‘pocket money’ and has a ‘spending’ and ‘saving’ piggy bank at home, plus he loves playing shop.

This is a great money box system (they threw in free gold chocolate coins for him), have a look at http://www.monedbox.com it also comes with a CD-ROM accounting system for the kids.

Dale Gilhams talk on how to beat the managed funds by 20% was interesting, once again showing how poorly your super fund manager is doing.

I talked to the Investors Club, which seemed OK untill the guy next to me said he had started up a “seminar business” and would they be interested, the guy from the IC talking to me said ‘yes’, excused himself and took the guy away for a chat about it? so i moved on…

http://www.investorcentre.com.au had the IC-Investor Charting software on show which looked impressive and attracted attention from share traders.

also listened to the trading edge stockmarket groups talk, again interesting.

picked up some great booklets from the ATO and DOCEP

went to ……..’s stall where i overheard a young family say they had 1 child and another due soon, they had large equity but no cash flow. One of the advisers asked what the property was worth, the young mother said $500 000 and they owed $280 000 , they were on one wage didn’t have much spare cash due to the loan and had the baby due, but they wanted to invest.

The adviser suggested he could help and gave them a card ( the fee for them to sort out your finances and re-structure your loans is about $2’700.00, once off fee)..not for me.

It’s worth going, you’ll learn a lot and see a lot, my advice – park in the city,or a train station and catch the Blue Cat to the convention centre..it’s WAY cheaper, lucky i was pre-warned.

by the way a bottle of coke was about $3.50and a pie $4.50, fish and chips $7.50 and about $6.00 for a ham and salad roll…it’s the money show, make sure you take some..

    Redwing,

Sounds like you got more out of it than I did. I did hear a couple of other speakers inlcuding Margaret Lomas, but one of the ones I wanted to hear was cancelled and replaced with some technology tiered buisness thing. That happened to be the very first thing I arrived there for so it didn’t really start on a good footing for me.

I did hear one other interesting talk on Serviced Apartments. While I don’t think I’m interested, I haven’t shut the door on it yet, seems there’s some law in WA that’s being changed that will limit serviced apartments in the future, whether this will then provide a scarity of them is the thing I’m not certain of. Something to look into.

Yes, my parking under the convention centre cost as much as the getting into the show.

Ah yes, I did put my name down at the investor club’s stall so imagine I’ll get more info from them soon.

The show was fine and it’s the first time I’d been in the Convention centre, but I still expected it to be bigger show. I guess I expected every broker and bank etc etc to be there and this wasn’t the case. Maybe it’s for the better, maybe not.

I’d go again if there was someone/s I wanted to listen to, but wouldn’t go if there wasn’t a line up of speakers.

Oh yeah, I did take my book 0-130 in and Steve kindly signed it for me.

Well must go, we’re nearly finished our renovation, then it’ll be time to look for the next investment.

    Regards
    PK

PS. Redwing, you did a good writeup with the links and all in. Well done.

    Hi PK..

I actually sat in on that system for checking caroteniods..or sum such thing for checking your supplements have the correct amount of vitamins in them, however i dont think it was ‘broad spectrum’, covering anything other than the caroteniods via a ‘bluelight’…

hey Steve…did you wind up trying it?

lot of people walked out on the speaker as he started his speil..i felt embarresed for him..

If the serviced apartment business was the very first one in the door on the right, i heard a guy give a lady his spiel, and she said “wow..if i’s that good, how come everyone’s not doing it?” They had a lot of stuff near Mandurah, and even looked like they were advertising the same apartments Mark Hay is..near the belltower..

Community Choice home loans cornered me with trying to re-finance, i said i was on a pretty good deal..they said they could do something however and tried to get me back to thier stand…then i saw thier rate “flash” up on the TVscreen..a special of 6.59% plus only a $680 odd application fee.. i pointed out i was paying 6.2%, they agreed they couldn’t help me and let me go..

Had a look at Hometrader and the Australian investors group http://www.investors.asn.au

Had a great day, would’ve gone back the next day, and even stayed longer to hear Steve again but had work and housework..[angry2]

    Housework, yuk!

Yes, the blue light thing was the thing that I walked out of too. I didn’t do it right at the begginning though, I waited a bit, but not my cup of tea.

The serviced apartment thing I sat in on was opposite the seminar room 2, they did their talk in the seminar room and we set up right outside it. Had to walk out of that one to go and listen to Steve as they went overtime and well, hearing Steve was more important than hearing about serviced apartments. Wasn’t a hard choice, although their talk wasn’t bad and it mightn’t be bad to have 1 in the portfolio but I think it may only be +ve cashflow after depreciation deductions. Would rather investments that are +ve cashflow prior to deductions, although they are a bonus if there as well.

Anyway, either noone else from the forum went or they just not commenting.

    Regards
    PK
