    G’day and thanks…

    Steve….

I was concerned in that the message I received, implied that I had sent you a message and that it contained a virus.

Steve, I did not think for a minute that any virus came from PI…my concern was that it suggested I had sent one to PI.

    Cheers

    Bill

    Bill,

I suggest it came from a third party who has both addresses as suggested.

Someone using my address is sending them too, they also have the PI address in their address book. I know because as I am the “originator” I am getting all the rejected mail.

    Cheers,

Bill, noone would think you had sent a virus to PI.com. You’re respected on here, Bill :) Time to get back into the fold and into the discussions, Bill!

    Hey Kay

    There is a thought!

Good conspiracy theory, the Mydoom virus came around the same time as Bill[}:)].

What are you doing Bill, creating the worlds current most infectious virus. Now that’s how to make a comeback[^]

Just out of interest Bill and Steve are both in my address book. Maybe it was me[:I] oopps! Nah I have got good software that has been zapping it.

    Cheers

    Bill,

Not suggesting that you sent it at all… just clarifying that I seriously doubt that the source was from us.

Although, with the number of e-mails we get a day, approx 30 or 40 of them are advice from our virus protection software that so-and-so sent a virus and it has been removed.

Bill – I’ve started a thread (https://www.propertyinvesting.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=7136) about where the market goes from here and I’d love to read your opinion.

    Cheers,

    Steve McKnight

Welcome back Bill… It’s been kind of quiet without you around !! [:p]

Someone using my address is sending them too, they also have the PI address in their address book. I know because as I am the “originator” I am getting all the rejected mail.

Simon, i’ve had the same thing happen to me. Not sure what the hell is going on, at the moment i simply don’t open any emails if i don’t know the sender…

Emails are fine to open, just don’t open the attachments. I get them from people I know (with out them sending them) so just be weary about what attachment u open. IF there is nothing on the email or even something about a binary, or something that makes no sence to u at all, JUST DONT OPEN THE ATTATCHMENT.

My I also suggest that you don’t open any emails where the subject is “Hello”

Currently we are finding that these are generally viruses.

I recieved this from bigpond today hopefully it helps every one reconise the virus’s

There are a number of potent viruses currently circulating the internet and we’d like to advise you about how to protect yourself in advance or remove the virus if you have already been infected.

The MyDoom or Norvarg virus may appear in emails headed “Hi”, “Hello”, “Error”, “Status”, “Server Report”, “Mail Transaction Failed”, “Failed Delivery System” or infect via share sites like music download site Kazaa.

A newer variant of this virus – MyDoom-B – is also circulating. It arrives as an e-mail attachment that sends itself out to other addresses if opened, and may allow unauthorised access to computers.

After this it just goes on to try to sell bigpond products for added security.

    Regards Bear

Yeh, a monthly charge mind you, for the rest of your life.

Go and get a free Zone Alarm to get a firewall and subscribe to Norton for virus protection.

Going by many people’s experiences, Bigpond isn’t exactly their first choice – for anything.

I’m happy with Bigpond also. The second part of the email that Bear posted is a link to a site where you can download a tool called stinger to see if you have any viruses, and it will eradicate them. I downloaded it on my sisters computer and ran it, to discover that she had the Bugbear virus, AND a couple of Trojans.

I posted the links in response to Leigh K’s post ‘Virus Alert’ in one of the other forums. I think the ‘Heads Up’.
