I thought I posted on here this morning but now can't find it so sorry if it comes up twice!

The new site looks great and was surely worth the downtime! but…

Is there anyway we can bring back the 'subscribe' button or something similar so we can follow threads that we have not posted on.

    Thanks :)

Hi Steve and Admin, I like the new site layout.

First thing I noticed was the glaring white background, a more subtle colour would make things a little easier on the eyes.

Any chance of changing the background colour to something else, like a soft tone of grey, or blue, maybe an off-white tone?

(Tried reducing the glare by adjusting the monitor's brightness, but that just dims everything down).

Ohhhhhhhh I didn't even notice that was gone!  I was relying on that to bookmark to really useful information I had seen on some threads.  Argh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am not sure why though there is quite a bit of unused space at both the left and right side of the screens.  On a mobile phone it for some reason makes it impossible to scroll all the way to the right.  This is probably because I can't figure out how to use my phone properly hhehe.

When you use the search function for any keywords on the right hand side lets you choose what year nothing seems to come up after 2007?

Yes. However, there is no functionality to upload pictures at this stage. And there's a bug that appears to be stopping images from being displayed.

When writing a forum thread, look for the photo icon. (It has a house on it, and is to the left of the smiley icon.)

    I hope this helps!

    Hi NHG,

    Thanks for your comment here.

    Crashes

I'm a bit worried about the crashes you're reporting here, and would love to get the problem here solved ASAP.

Can I trouble you to email us at webmaster *at~ PropertyInvesting.com with some details about the browser you're using (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, etc), its version number (e.g. Chrome 21.1), and the operating system you're using on your computer (Mac OSX Snow Leopard, Windows Visa, Windows XP, etc).

(Obviously replace *at~ with the @ symbol, and get rid of the spaces. I typed it this way to foil any spambots who might be harvesting email addresses posted online.)

I'd also love to find out what happens when the forum crashes. Does your browser window close? Does it keep loading over and over? Does it say the page is taking too long to respond?

    Level 8 Badge

Yes – sadly, we needed to get rid of the old level system to make way for all of the new badges and achievements.

The good news is we've given everyone who achieved a level 2 or above a new badge to commemorate their achievement on the old PropertyInvesting.com website.

This badge is the Mayflower badge. (Why "Mayflower"? Because you're among the intrepid pilgrims who made the voyage to our brave new site wink)

There are different "levels" of Mayflower badges too – level 2 to level 8.

You're a level 8 Mayflower – one of only 11 people who earned this achievement (including Derek, Qlds007, Terryw, Dubstep, and a few other top contributors.)

Only 11 people will ever hold this badge. New users can't achieve it. So you're in fine company here.

    BH

P.S. – One enhancement I have on my own wish list is a way to display the badges next to your profile in the forums – like medals of honor worn on you lapels. I'd like to know you were able to show off your achievements on the site easily. Perhaps make a few other members jealous ;)

I also think if the left and right space be used.

Maybe the centre text content can get a bit wider to use the space on both side

    This is an odd one….

In my previous comment, I mentioned browser details.

I'd love to receive the browser details for this bug too. It will help us to track down the cause.

    Hi Nathan and Jac

This is on our "Things To Do" list – but we've needed to fix a few show-stopper bugs before we've been able to hit this.

I just wanted to let you know "we're on it." :)

    Hi Steve.

Is there anyway that I can activate email alerts for any new comments made on a particular thread that I am following ?

Would love to be able to do this :-/

    Thanx

    It looks brilliant!

I love the thumbs up function. I like it so much, I may even try give myself a thumbs up ;)

I think there is a lot of wasted empty space on the sides also. I'm sure you'll fill that up over time.

    Great job, Michelle.

The other one to add to the wish list, up the top where it has eg 53 posts/3 new, can the 3 new bit be clicked on, so that you can just read those posts. This might be handy with the new conversations within conversations way of reading.

    Cheers

I prefer the linear sequential approach. There's no way to keep up with comment from others if its attached to someone else's post somewhere in the thread. Too hard.

The "quote" function as per the old system and included here performs this function extremely well. The new system just doubles up without adding anything to the readability of a thread.

What would be useful is when the QUOTE function is used it also added a link back to the original (quoted) post. That enables the reader to jump back and read the complete post. Many of us only quote particular points of a post which may detract from context for the reader.

I would also consider reverse ordering the threads. Perhaps as an option. It's less clicks to jump to the latest post not the first of a thread which I then have to click again. I do notice that one can jump to the last page from the forum threads page though – that's good.

Another handy tool is a "JUMP TO" option at the bottom of the page that gets you straight to a particular forum. It's usually a drop down box.

Can we loose the SAVE text and replace it with POST.

I notice that when I page back I can only go to the first page after I click Quote to start a reply not all the way back to the thread when I first clicked on it. I often do several revisions of a post (previewing). Before I post I will sometimes select all in the comment box and then copy it. I'll then return to the thread, paste into a clean comment box and reread the relevant comments in the thread before posting. I notice the copy function in the rich text editor is disabled also. I have to switch to plain text to copy

Sorry guys but this has to be the worst site upgrade I've ever seen.

New site is no where near as functional as the previous site and I can't believe it's not mobile device ready. Why were you not running this site in beta mode with volunteer forum members as testers prior to going live surprises me. Several days to switch over – just don't understand that. It should have been turn key ready and switched over in less than an hour without all the bugs and parts missing.

Did I miss something in the mail about prior notification or was it just a surprise you thought you'd spring on us after leaving a closed sign on the door with "Closed for maintenance".

I hope you guys aren't in the aircraft industry.

So i'm one of only 11 to hold the level 8 mayflower badge? Must have too much spare time :-)

Maybe will take some getting used to, but to a point i agree with Freckle above, the old site was far easier to navigate,if not looking quite so fancy while doing it.
