Any thoughts on choosing builders for an eight unit site in the country? ie How many quotes to get? Checking referrals? Contract negotiating? Deadlines for completion?

    Cheers,
    Canuck

Sorry can’t help with choosing builders. I guess my initial thoughts would be to look around the area to see which company is doing the majority of the work, then approach them for a list of clients who you can interview. With regards to quotes, I guess you should go with the number you feel most comfortable but it would be wise to get at least 3 maybe. Once you’re done could you please post your info so we can all gain from the benefit of your research?

    Many thanks
    Matt

I talked to some locals and sourced three builders with good references. Well known for good quality unit developments at a realistic cost! Before I talked to the locals, I was given the name of a builder by someone that doesn’t live in the area and it turned out they have a reputation for being the most expensive in the area. Matthew, your thoughts on checking out the local builders has indeed paid off. I also double checked the names with two Real Estate agents and have narrowed it down to two builders that are set up for my type of development.

    Cheers,
    Canuck
