    Hi all,

I am about to buy a brand new house as an IP. I have never that before (my other IPs are all older homes) so I have a couple of basic questions.

    1. I read somewhere that you need to prove to the ATO that you are unable to attain the original building cost before they will accept a depreciation report. Is this is true ?

    2. Do I need to get a building inspection report done ? Logic says prob not as the house is new, but I would like to see how others view this.

    Thanks !

    Hi
Do you need a building report depend on how well you trust the builder with your money. I know with some builders I would definitrly get a report. What is a couple of hundred dollars compared to your investment and peace of mind.

Thanks Rudolph .. I think I'll get an inspection as recommended just for the peace of mind.

Can anyone recommend a good building inspector that can service the Williamstown area ?

    Thanks !
