I did have up until two nights ago a 2002 Bug Bandit moped motorcycle (it got stolen sadly) …. so the only vehicle I have now is my “Bunny” …. 1988 Toyota Corolla CS
Granted, one day I will purchase a VW Beetle then either turn it into a “Herbie” (custom paint job) or just totally “pimp it out”.. that would be kewl. Only if I had the money to waste tho’ …. otherwise, I will stick to hardly cars like my Toyota Corolla. [biggrin]

As I already stated, I too have a 1988 Toyota Corolla. It also doesn’t have A/C nor a left side mirror. It has a radio.. no CD player. Since this is my work car, I’m thinking of “investing” in it as such since I plan to have it for a few more years yet…. give it A/C, a CD player, left side mirror and some tinting.
I paid $1400 for her at the time as the chick who was selling her via ebay (yes ebay) was a motivated seller… gotta love those motivated sellers [biggrin]

That reminds me… My flatmate would love to have KARR not KITT. I can see why… as it would go up in value not down if it was fully pimped out like KARR (inside and out) as much as possible. It will actually be worth something…..
My plan of attack is to replace my car every 3-5 years. I’m only ever going to buy second-hand/used. I’m not being stingy or cheap… just that I prefer to spend the excess cash I will eventually have (I havn’t started investing in IPs yet) in other ways.

I’m a mum of 3 kids under 15yo and a schnauzer I love to have on board with the family. Also, I won’t have my mum home alone on the weekend. So, in 1999, we bought a near new 98 Chrysler Grand Voyager LE. It’s a comfortable taxi, but I hate the thought of parting with it for something less thirsty and burn $$ off our pockets.[glum2]
My hubby has a 97 Ford Transit Van and a 2001 Izusu NPR200 Truck for work purposes.
Incidentally, can anyone shed some light on which is more fuel economical vehicle – LPG, diesel or Dual Fuel?
I used to envy mates on high salaries maximising their tax clawback and justified their new vehicles very 5 years or so. I wonder if they miss the point of chasing tax dollars which can be better used to financed property. Or maybe, I’m just what they’d call a …. frugal spender? Then again, from what I can follow from this thread, it’s all not what it seems…

Here is what we drive:
Mine is a 99 Camry v6 bought in 2002 for 14k. It had done 97Km back then and is now reaching 200km but still runs like new. Also good thing with the Camry v6 is that it does not use much more fuel then the 4 cylinder camry.
My wife drives a 2003 Corolla bought for 15k earlier this year and it had done about 45kms.
We plan to keep both cars for as long as they run and put all savings towards IP’s. Our first IP is currently being built in QLD.
I’ve updated my cars recently since the last post.
I ve still got 6 Cars and 3 bikes but have changed 2 of the cars
As I live in 2 countries we need cars and bikes in both, and I prefer four wheel drives (4WD).
Overseas we have, 98 Mitsubushi Delica Space Gear 4WD, 94 Mitsubishi GTO 3.0 lt, 94 Mercedes Benz 2.8lt, 96 Honda steed 400cc(motor bike)
Here, 96 Mitsubishi Space gear 4WD(self imported), 88 Toyota Troop carrier 4WD, 92 Lada niva 4WD(stop laughing) , Honda XL 185 (motor bike)and a Yamaha XT 200cc( great for zipping around in heavy traffic.

I can see why the forum was split – with 27 pages of replies just on what car you drive, one can IMAGINE what the volume is like!
I started out on my present project with a ZK Fairlane and a similar-aged Mazda 1.25-tonne trayback ute – both of these “karked it” last year, and for a while I drove a friends ‘old bomb’ of a Mitsubishi wagon. [grrr]
Worried about the consequenses of a prang, or a mechanical failure, in July last year I bought a 1989 Ford Fiesta Trio (1.3L), and BOY!!, have I saved some money on fuel !
I love it, and as I am virtually the only person who ever occupies it, it is big enough. Have done several 1000+ trips in it, and had no complaints. [inlove]

We drive a 99 Honda CRV and 99 KA ford (I just fit into it !)
But, I did have a n A4 AUDI on novated lease. When the lease ran out and I had the option of buying a depreciating asset I decided to buy it, sell a month later for A 9k profit (tax free) and bought the KA instead. In line with my investing goals I didn't enter into another lease but kept the money instead.

I often think that I should trade down, but have always been lucky enough to have nice cars and I do receive a 20K car allowance for my vehicle annually. afc9798I drive a 1992 Pulsar Q and it is great for the little driving I do (to and from the train station). My partner drives a 1997 Toyota Landcruiser Ute that he bought as a repairable write off for $8K, spent $2K fixing and registering it and then promptly insured it for $26K.
An R1 99 model….. It's a weapon…. and also a vs ute for work , tools etc
