Getting finance in NZ, do you need to live there?

If i went for a loan from a NZ company, do i have to live there???

What if i still have a bad credit rating here in Aust????
Will that show on my credit rating in NZ?? Because BAYCORP is an Australian owned company?????

You couldn’t apply here without it causing a problem. I don’t know about getting loans in NZ, it may still show up there. They best thing to do would be to get a copy of your CRAA file from Baycorp in NZ – and see what is on it.

Credit Information is shared between the two Countries and therefore anything registered here in Australia will show up.
I have had client in exactly the same position and I was unable to place it here in Australia. I ended up having to use a NZ lender in NZ.

As in Australia there are NZ lenders who take adverse credit applications.
Those based in NZ are often only available to NZ brokers due to the PI issues.

I can’t remember exactly but I think my first nz bank wanted to see my oz credit history – I have not heard of anyone asking for one for a while though. Sounds reasonable enough – but as mentioned there are alternatives.
