Finally my prayers have been answered and my long service has been approved! Look forward to reading the forums this time tomorrow in India.

I wish I was joining you. My dream is to spend a couple of months backpacking the subcontinent.

Family committments see this being postponed for at least the foreseeable future.

    Have a great time mate

    Cheers Sime,
I’ll be in Calcutta for 2 weeks doing a bit of volunteering then off to Rajasthan and then Jaisalmer. I’ll keep everyone posted. There will definetly be some ‘real life’ jokes coming out of this trip (again!).
    Cheers,
    Gatsby.

I did an overland trip from Kathmandu to London on an old London double decker bus in 1989. One of the highlights of India would have been staying on houseboats on Dal Lake up in Kashmir. So close to the Himalayas, it was just spectacular.
Pity there is so much trouble there at the moment.

Enjoy india and forget about personal space as it doesn’t exist in the crowded cities.

    Cheers,
    Pete
