[anxious] At the risk of being flamed – dare I ask what anyone’s thoughts are on Anythony Robbins – I’ve seen some articles on him, and have thought about attending a seminar, but found it a tad expensive.

I know several people who have done Robbins’ course.
Without exception, these people are totally fixated on money/”success” without any due regard to there own happiness, which my observation is that this area of thir life suffers as a consequence.
I have my thoughts as to why this is, but will keep that to myself for now.

Read some of his books first to get a taste of his ideas.
He is a great motivator, prioritiser and all round life coach.
IMO His principles have a lot of merit!

I went to the unleash the power within weekend 3 years ago,and would recommend it to anyone.I took myself way out of my comfort zone by going to another city and attending by myself,not really knowing what to expect.I laughed,cried,walk on a bed of hot coals and was mesmerised for the whole weekend.They are very long days without any breaks,and it really made me think about a lot of things.I don’t think it is for everyone,but if that is your thing,then go for it.I believe the coming upw weekend in Sydney will be the last time he will be live in Australia.And sorry Wayne,but I am not one who is fixated on money and success.

I was given a free ticket from a PI.com forum member, but discovered the seminar was *absolutely* not for me (I then gave the ticket to another forum member who enjoyed it more than I did. I did try to enjoy it… Upshot was I neither laughed nor cried, but just wanted to hear some info. I found all of the dancing people in matching tshirts to be quite a distraction, and TR made everyone get up and dance all the time. [confused2] I think if someone wants to go to a kind of dancey/party “upbeat” kind of event, then they might enjoy it, but the info is really thin on the ground, and the constant talking by AR with the only break being a whoopy dance session- well, I found that quite tiring. To me, it seemed more like Hillsong than any kind of informative seminar.
If one really needs motivation, or is really down from a number of crises in their life,then this might be for them. As for me, my motivation depends on my finances: if I can afford, I do; if I cannot afford, I save. Simple.

They do a wierd musical routine. Kind of like a Bollywood movie, except… you’re in the middle of it. With as much info in it.
I do find the angle with which Robbins looks at things occasionally insightful, but don’t find him too motivational. However, I’m sure he’d be entertaining to some and possibly life-changing for a few people. Perhaps the failing is mine, I do find that I’m hard to impress- maybe I’m just a wet blanket.

A few weeks ago I was looking for a book to read while stuck at Melbourne airport, and I came across an AMerican one on the gurus. I think it was called something like ‘guru busters’. There was a whole chapter on Anthony RObbins in there. I ended up buying a different book, so didn’t read it, but it was critical of the whole industry and may be worth a read if you can track it down.

I just attended ULP in Sydney and I was totally blown away. Anthony Robbins is an extraordinary person and I would say one of a kind.
It was the best thing I have ever attended. It is probably not for everyone especially the egotistical or the brain dead, but apart from these people it is a wonderful experience to be had.
By the way it will be back in Sydney next year around August. It was supposed to be in Hong Kong but their venue will not be completed in time, so it is here again.
I will be going back next year and taking as many people along as I can find.
I have one word to describe it OUTSTANDING.[biggrin]

glad you enjoyed the weekend.Do you know the name of that song he uses “life will never be the same again”?And also who sings it?i stick my head in to another forum on woodwork,and one of the guys was offered a free ticket.He asked other members if he should go to it or to the woodwork show.Everyone bagged Robbins,and said to go to the wood show (as you would expect).So I simply asked who had been to see Robbins or even knew anything about him….and then spent the weekend defending myself,even though I had never made a judgement about Robbins.Everyone else had,but nobody could tell me what they knew about him.I tink the thread is around 160 posts long now.The guy ended up going (reluctantly),but hasn’t posted his experiences yet.I suspect I know what they will be.I don’t think it is for everyone,and you only get out of it what you put in to it.I suspect you did as I did and went with an open mind.
