Today i asked my PM to fax me a copy of a tenancy application for an IP i have. She hesitantly did, which I then rang the propspective tenants current agent and asked a few questions, due their current wierd living arrangement. Their current agent then rang my PM and suggested privacy laws had been breached. My PM rang me and had a go at me for ringing the other agent. I believe they are collecting the information for me, not them and have every right to ring who i want to screen those that will be living in my house. My PM has never met these people (the receptionist gave them the keys) and could not tell me too much about them. Do you think I am to paranoid or should I tell this PM to P off, your thoughts appreciated.

    cheers

No you shouldn’t do this, you should tell your PM to F____ OFF!

It’s your house, you dont need and cant afford to let people like this manage your investment. You can do better. Keep us informed of what you decide to do and good luck…G7

I assume that on the tenancy application of any competent PM, there should be a statement to the effect that the applicant agrees that the PM or the owner may contact the named people for any purpose related to renting the property. Otherwise, what would be the point of naming the previous PM, referees, etc?

If there was such a statement, then you’re not likely to be in breach of privacy laws (unless there’s a particularly obscure one in that State/Territory).

If there wasn’t, your PM has a negligence issue.

    Hi
What are you paying this PM to do. If you feel the need to check yourself why use a PM at all.
With my PM they ring with prespective tenants and we discuss the pros and cons and make a dicission on whether wwe will let it to them why had your PM not rung the old landlord?
