Hi All,

I am trying to understand the Temporary Absence rule.

For example,
I purchased a house in year 2007.
In April 2010, I purchased a 3 bedroom apartment and moved in as PPOR.

After few months I rented out 1 room and occupied 2 other rooms.

From Feb 2014 – Feb 2016,
I moved out and rented out the whole apartment managed by the agent.…[Read more]

1. Where can I get a valuation? From property agent, bank or third party company? If from third party company, can anyone suggest a company? Is ATO approved?

There are Family Tax Benefit Part A and B.
From what I understanding,
A is for family’s adjusted taxable income for this financial year less than certain amount.
B is for families with one main income, where one parent stays at home to care for children full-time.

So basically I cannot get benefit A.

Thanks Shane.

As originally I lived P1, I paid interest and principal. I did not change the loan structure after I moved to P2.

I thought it will be a good idea to pay interest and principal because I can pay off faster.

But from reading articles, it seems not a good strategy for investment.
