Geo What a mad, sick joke!

(Hope this does not really apply me or anyone else who reads it!)

I prefer the ones about the church and the women!

I give to IFAW and WWF, I have been a voluntary guide at Healesville Sanctuary, and am currently a member of Knox Community Volunteers.

I aslo give to the Salvos, donate regular items to my local op shop (ie bed and exercise bike recently).

I also give to the people that come to my door and beggars in the street, as well as lending a few bucks to family and friends now and then (not expecting it back)

This sort of thing really gets my goat!

How can a person CLAIM to be a “man of God” and do this!

    What an evil man.

This is where the quote comes in “Man cannot serve both God and Mammon (money)”

    Hi all,

I agree with Jo, children should choose where they go, and hopefully they get the education they deserve!

Also to get one thing straight, Im not against public schools at all, I just think the teachers are overworked therefore do not put the effort in (my sister being an overworked teacher herself, however tries to put effort in) and I also agree theres not enough funding,

but that doesnt mean private schools should be tarred and feathered because of this either – they are a valuable part of society also!

I did NOT grow up with the attitude “Im superior to you” like some private school people either I think this attitude between everyone sucks.

We are all valuable members of the community and children cannot help what educatin their parents have given them.

Ill get of my soapbox now…

    Hi Tinkerbell,

Dont know whether this will help u much but..

I also have a -ve geared property, which is costing myself and my lover money, but we perceive it to be a good growth asset in the long run.

If it is not hurting your hipocket too much and you can cope with the repayments keep it, otherwise if you need to slave 10 hours a day and it is ruining your life, ce la vie!

Wish u luck, and every success!

    Hi Aussierogue,

First of all, I am surprised that you do not value the education your parents gave you, and call yourself a PRODUCT of elitist education?!

Also I do not necessarily agree that expensive is the best, all I am saying is that I saw as I was growing up the difference between the time given to each student by the teachers and what that time mant in improving the students quality of learning.

For example: my teachers took great pains to tutor me on subjects I was not particularly a genius at eg. maths in order to make sure I had an understanding of it.

whereas my friend who went to a govermment run school was just put into a lower class and given what she called “baby maths” to do!

    That IS the difference

    Hello,

Just to put a spanner in your works Aussie Rogue, I also cannot agree.

As a private school educated woman myself,
my parents saved, sacrficed and scrimped to give me the best possible for which I am supremely grateful.

I have noticed the difference in quality between some goverment schools and private ie. my friends, lovers etc who went to goverment run schools did not get the level of attention from teachers or education, values taught, as I did. This is a quality every child should receive during their impressionable years.

This then is why I cannot deny a parents right to choose for their children, whatever they deem to be the very best.

    Hi everyone,

In that case I will never retire!

Looking after a house IS a full time job albeit a very rewarding one (especially if the people/creatures living in it also appreciate you efforts!)

It is very interesting to note how the family structure has changed, and whom has accepted this change and who has not.

How about a new discussion on this topic?!

Ill start off by saying how I have noticed z few older generation STILL expect a woman who is nearing her 30s (or in her 30s) to be happily married with some littles running around or on the way(that’s little humans not mice)

    What you all say?

I dont intend to buy 20 homes in the next 12 months either Westan!

But I do hope to buy 3 or 4 in about 6 – 12 months time and (as I gain more equity increase my portfolio slowly), not altogether outright like Mini though!

How DO you do it Mini?

It seems to me, Mr Rivkin is just a poor misguided soul who cannot find his way in this life.
He appears to be a very unhappy person and I hope and pray he finds what he is looking for, wherever he has to end up.

    Very interesting!

Retire to me means getting away from the drudgery of having to work for a boss, the getting up every morning to put in your 8 – 10 hrs a day and come home dead tired NO!

Instead to get up leisurely enjoy hearing the birds and sipping your tea and then decide I think Ill go and do my bit for the community (not work a such thats a four letter word) just enjoying what you like do to but also turning it into a business!

Thats not a career change because your not deciding to pursue a career as such just have a hobby if you like(whether it be gardener, handyperson whatever)

    Keep smiling!

Thanks peoples, keep those ideas coming!

Sorry Jo, didn’t mean to offend – a couple a questions though? How long and how hard did you have to work? Are all your properties in Australia?

I plan to retire in about ten years (when Im 40)
or sooner if I can do it!

When I said ‘work for myself’ I meant that I will run MOB that of course benefits the community, but gives me something fulfilling and worthwhile to do with my time.

    Any more comments?[bandana]

    Trisha
