    Hi Redwing,

The PDA is a freebie hand-me-down – an old Toshiba e570 running pocket PC 2002.

I bought a ‘new’ Compact Flash wi-fi card on ebay for $9 and it is sweet! Might get a CF GPS unit and then a 2Gb CF ‘harddrive’

I don’t use the PDA for ‘work’ things – even being an IT guy… [suave3] I fly a fair bit, and I have found that it’s a good MP3 player and DivX movie player for the long haul!

The handwriting recognition is pretty good – so I can only imagine a newer version a la ppc2003 / smartphone would be even better.

    Cheers

    Hi Kenneth,

I am with the rest of the forumites regarding contamination.

Your informant would have been speaking about the New South Wales town of Singleton and it’s mining activities.

For example: NSW Dept. Environment & Conservation Auth.
    http://www.epa.nsw.gov.au/soe/97/ch2/9_1.htm

“Surface and groundwater systems in the region show signs of stress. Two particular aspects of the region’s water needs that are of interest are the quantity and the quality of water available, particularly in relation to salinity, nutrient and bacterial levels:

    * because of excessive bacterial levels in the Hunter River at Aberdeen, Muswellbrook and Singleton in 1994-95, these parts of the river were determined as unsuitable for primary contact recreation. All sites except Murrurundi and Singleton met the guidelines for secondary contact recreation, stock watering and irrigation usage. Water quality at a number of other sites has been determined as unsuitable for human consumption without further treatment”

WA’s Singleton is absolutely gorgeous and I am envious of all of you that have interest there [cap]

    Cheers

    Thanks Pete,

I can confirm that the left hand menu item does seem to work more effectively – from a useability point though, it’s still not that flash that a tool is offered but doesn’t work on our precious forum!

I reckon the error is about a ” quote mark short of a syntactically correct piece of dodgy ASP/VBA – should be PHP [suave2]

Did they mention the additional >$150 per day tax free income earnt whilst O/S for the good of the country?

Don’t get me wrong, they have gone fan-bl00dy-tastically, and made a freakin good go at opportunity, but the figures seem a little rubbery!

I found it more economical to purchase from
    Amazon
    http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/sim-explorer/explore-items/-/0143019430/0/101/1/none/session/ref%3Dpd%5Fsxp%5Fr0/102-0667772-2211369

The next best I could find is from Angus and Robertson
    http://www.angusandrobertson.com.au/products/detailed.asp?bookid=0143019430&db=us

Even with Amazon delivery included, it still comes in $6AUD cheaper than the listed price exclusive of A&R delivery charge.

My experience with Amazon, has been a week and a half delivery to my doorstep, in regional Queensland.

    Sad, but Cest la vie!

Bah – Dampier is far superior!

My IP has ocean/island views, 10 minutes to work, a bike ride to Barnacle Bills and a big resource company paying the rent!

As much as I would have liked to puff my chest and say “Told you so” I let the pump slide… Risk was all dollars, Reward was self righteousness.

In hindsight, there was an innocence in the error, and Cata has 2 good points – the lawyers, and the lesson to sharpen up the contract – if I believe it to be essential to the purchase

I understand the pump would be $1000 plus installation.

With that amount unfortunately, I think that the lawyer would benefit more!

    Hi Terry,

I think you nailing clarification of Plant and Equipment is required – also what is required to be explicitly defined, and what can be implied.

Another analagous situation I can think of is a swimming pool.

The swimming pool is advertised as a selling point – and I think you could reasonably expect to see a filter and a pump after the sale.
If the intention of the seller was to take away filter and pump, wouldn’t that be unusual and be explicitly defined as being excluded as a sale item in the contract?

    Cheers

    Thanks F

For the link you supplied to one of the 340 submissions http://www.pc.gov.au/inquiry/housing/subs/

It made for interesting reading. Equally interesting is the final document that the submission may have made a contribution to:

Old thread relived, but it’s the least I can do given the education gleaned from here and ah…

from the ATO and the ITWV (formerly 221D)
    http://www.ato.gov.au/corporate/content.asp?doc=/content/57470.htm

and downloading their PDF (being a non Microsft User – must mean that having Microsft on your computer is a tax rebate as it is the only way to access their forms online! – I thought I was kewl not having to pay for Linux!)

    Section C: Rental details
If you are required to complete these items and you do not complete them, your application will be returned to you.
    Percentage owned
Joint tenants and tenants in common must divide the income and expenses in accordance with their legal interest in the property. With
joint tenancy, each tenant holds an equal interest in the property. For example, if you and your spouse are the only names listed on the
title deed and you are listed as joint tenants, show 50% at the percentage owned item. A partnership agreement, either oral or in writing,
    cannot change this.

BTW – all went well re- settlement & I have received income already [fez] Thanks again guys
