I reckon BB is the biggest waste of time and a whole load of W*NK!

How that be called “reality tv”? There is NOTHING real about it! Thank goodness people are switching off and sending a message to Channel 10 that smut wont sell their tv show.

I am just glad it is on super late out here in the WA Country. THat’s one thing WIN has got right. I am not adverse to a movie with a good bit of sex in it or a smutty joke or any of that (With my husband, I have to be tolerant…), but I fully believe BB is making our children grow up quicker than they have to.

They are being confronted with issues and talk that they don’t really need to hear. I know parents have the choice to turn it off, but unfortunately, at schools the child would still be swept up into it all and just be resentful.

Sigh… I haven’t watched BB since the second series and am glad I switched off. This series just looks like a pack of tacky tarts and a pack of penis envy men…

I used to have two fish when we lived in England. Their names we Marcus O’Fisheus and Maximus O’Scaleus.

I think I have already posted my dogs names but I’ll say it again.

Buddy- a West HighlandXMaltese scruff-5 years old.
    Buzz- a hyper Jack RusselxDaschund-nearly 1yr old.

At my mum’s house lives an old cat that kinda used to be mine. She is 21 this year! She still looks like she is in her prime!

    Anubis,
you know you can get counselling from other areas than your priest.

We went and did Engaged Encounter and it was the best thing we did before we were married. A little on the religious side, but Cremin just disappeared during the service and came back after it.

Costs about two hundred bucks, but well worthwhile because you hear from other married couples and you spend a LOT of time just talking to your partner about what you hope for your marriage. We discovered a couple of issues that we had thought we had resolved but they were simmering under the surface so it was great to get that all sorted.

As for the educatees, well I think a lot of them have the first hand knowledge of drugs and trialling a huge variety of them, it would just seem callous to tell kids about their experiences about it. I mean if I was asked by a teenager if I had smoked pot in a school situation, I would probably say no because of the implications for my career.

I would love to say yes and explain why I do (mainly for pain relief…), but parents are not so forgiving.

    Anyway.
We can only hope someone sensible will create a drug education pack that is realistic soon.

The latest drug campaign on telly is interesting in this “DRUGS” debate. It doesn’t even touch on the most addictive drug of all, alcohol. Alcohol is the most commonly used drug in teenagers. It is abused every weekend and children continue to do it.

Being in education myself, I see the gaps in drug education. The biggest gap I see is honesty. I mean, drugs do make you feel good. For a certain period of time, then you come down, have headaches, stomach cramps etc.etc… If drugs didn’t feel good, you wouldn’t take them.

I have been guilty of that. I’ve smoked a bit of pot every now and then and still enjoy a spliff with my husband.

I feel what is needed of educators is not an ignorant approach but one that lets the kids know of the whole drug. Um… how to explain. I mean, would it be harmful to run through some scenarios with teenagers about what to do if their mate overdoses or has a bad experience? Maybe that would hit home the real realities of drugs? I dunno.

    Food for thought…

    Dazzling,
Funny how a charade to you is part of an ancient tradition for a billion Catholics around the world…
Personally, I feel privilleged that I have had the chance to see the process of a change over of a pope. Last time it happened, I was two months old!!!

My husband and I got engaged the same day we happen to see Pope John Paul II, so I suppose I am a little biased about the whole thing.

Then again, I certainly don’t agree on all the stances the Church has taken with different topics, but it is my perogative to pick and choose what I want to hear about.

    Hmmm…
Fascinating to say the least. Let’s see how Ratsinger does over the next few years… I personally think he was a little old, but anyhoo…

    Gatsby,
you are dead on the mark but the biggest mistake people make is generalising about churches.

Yes some of them are very rich and have lots of money, but there are others which are not as rich. Ie. The Geraldton Diocese covers from Geraldton (420km north of Perth) right up to the Kimberley’s up north of WA.

I think it is the biggest diocese in Australia let alone probably the world. I think my point is that the money has to be spread thinly over that area to make sure everyone has access to prayer facilities. Church or at least a hall to pray in. We are not a rich Diocese, but I reckon we have one of the most well travelled Bishops! That’s for sure!

Calvin, no offense taken to remarks. I am not overly Catholic that I take offense to critism or cannot have a laugh. Geez, besides.. it’s the CAtholics that have the wine with their dinner right!!?? Ha ha ha!

    That’s my excuse anyway.
    Scatch ya!

    Thanks Foundation.

Interesting article that’s for sure. I wonder how much of it is truth.

Would be interesting to find out for certain the whole kit and caboodle about the businesses…

Well, this certainly is an interesting topic.

Ok, I will try to be objective or is that subjective? hmmm.

I am Catholic, I teach at a Catholic school. I have always been a Catholic, and probably always will be.

However, I am very open to thers opinions and I certainly do not shove my beliefs down others throats and many CAtholics I know don’t do that either. If anything, Catholocism is the one faith tha quietly goes about its business without preaching to the masses of infideles…hee hee…

Now, about the whole property thing. Most of the time, the Churches were built early into each suburb or city being developed. They bought the pocket of land they felt would be easiest accessible for their parishioners. This just happens to be some of the most sought out locations many years later. SO they are big holders of property, but they buy into it before the rest of the place it set up.

Now as for rates reduction. The property owned by the Catholic Church in Geraldton, is all used for not-for-profit organisations. St Vinnies, Nursing homes, etc. There was a fuore over rates last year because our council suddenly decided that they would start charging all churches rates.

If they had, so many of the support services in our town would have gon e down the gurgler because of the pressure of rates. Remember, I said ALL churches would have had to pay. That meant ALL not-for-profit service would have been affected.

People jump in the Catholic thing too quickly. Yes there are some excesses in our faith, but you cannot blame the current leaders of our church. A big part of our faith, is in the traditions and rituals that we follow. Vatican City is a little excessive, but I tell you what, if it wasn’t there, it would have been somewhere else.

Anyway, I have tried to articulate what I mean and I hope it comes across.
    Cheers
    Steph.
p.s. Oh and I don’t see that the religious bits in investing books is that big a deal. it means the person writing the book is proud of their faith and are not afraid to show it. In no way do I interpret it that I have to demonstrate my faith to anyone. NOT THAT I EVER WOULD!!

    A pretty nasty trick.

You can actually tie up the phone for the person you called by just not hanging up your phone.

It is a mean trick as that other person can not ring out or have calls ring in.

There are ways to eventually get them off your line, but it wont stop them from doing it to you repeatedly.

    Catch 22.

The way Cremin and I havge renocated our kitchen is rather basic.

Cream laminate cupboards, easy to clean and won’t date, brushed stainless steel handles and neutral coloured splashback.

As for the bathroom, well I see what people say about dark tiles on the floor, but honestly, the dark tiles hide the dirt really well! Plus you can tell when they are clean. The best house we rented had dark floor tiles through the main house, then the pits was the light coloured tiles in the kitchen!! It was digusting! No matter how much I cleaned them, they always looked dirty!

I would go with the medium to dark coloured tiles on the floor and the lighter ones on the walls. Like someone else said, well placed mirrors can make the place look bigger do invest in a few.

Good luck renovating. Ours has taken nearly a year, but we are living there as well. At least the main part of the house is done!

Dram, you’ve also got that new estate “The Vale” starting. Happened to drive past a few months ago on way back up to Gero, and they were having the opening ceremony and there was only 1 house there. Drove past there a couple of weeks ago and there are now 7 or 8 houses there!!!

Amazing!! I still remember taking our cars out to the pine plantation on Gnangara Rd and thrashing them on the tracks!! Also used to be a good place for a little bit of nookie when there was no where else available… Not anymore!! All those bloody houses popping up now… Hee hee… Funnily enough, the bloke I used to go out there with, he actually built a house in that area!!! HAHAHAHAH!!!!

    Hmmm funny…

Marc marc marc… YOUR SPELLING!!! It’s atrocious!! Physical and psychological… Oh and illness has the double s….

Sorry…Am currently writing my spelling programme for school and am being hawke eye at the mo….

I do have to agree with that article though. Take the devil out of the substance and the attractiveness disappears… Some people only take illicit drugs because it “could” get them into trouble and they want to be seen as rick takers in their group of friends. Take that risk out of the equation and the dynamics of young people change. They would probably look to sports for the same high as adrenaline can give the same euphoric sensation.

Drug addiction is a mental problem stemming from the fact that the person knows they are doing wrong but can’t stop it because they have to steal to support the habit. It’s a never ending cycle of violence. Take the stealing situation out and the face of society would change.

    Interesting topic…
    Steph.
p.s. I have known many people caught in the cycle of drugs, crime and incarceration and in particular onw family I know had two out of three girls addicted to drugs… Very hard on the family…

Having lived on a main road most of my life, you get used to the noise. It kinda melts into the background and you become oblivious.

I think if people wanted that lifestyle of living near water, there will always be some compromise. Monopoly’s hit the nail on the head. If it doens’t sound good to you, buy a bit back. If it is for a rental, I really don’t think the noisy road would put people off coz they would have actively been looking for a place by the water.

Me? Live in a really quiet house now, and when I go home to M&D’s, the noise initially annoys me, then I become immune to it again…

Denmark went up years ago. I am sure there are still bargains, but they are out of a lot of peoples reach these days.

Land is shockingly expensive and to build down there is equally as expensive. Mind you, it is a lovely area. Beautiful inlet and beaches.

Looked at buying there many years ago, but had thumb up bum, so we missed out on a really good opportunity. Ho hum. That’s life.

Mates of ours want to move down there.
