G’day Paul, is this scheduled event in Brisbane for this Thursday 27th August still happening? I can’t see anything on Meetup or elsewhere and interested in going if it is going ahead.
    Thanks,
    Scott

G’day 123reno, just read your post and was wondering how you got on with your situation? We are looking at our next reno project and looking at structuring options now that my wife is not working. We’re meeting with our accountant next week but thought I’d see how you got on with your situation.

    Thanks,
    Scott

Thanks for your comments all. I’ve since visited the builder’s office as we could never get a response by phone or email. They have assured me that we will get paid the balance of the agreed amount, but they have some cashflow issues at the moment. But they have assured me we will get our money….. I do feel a little more confident after discussing face to face with someone!
    Thanks again.

Thanks for the feedback guys.  We do plan to hold the property for 10+ years and am fully aware of the 16.5% management fees, but thought there were some advantages with it also.  Being a new build, maintenance should be minimal for the first few years, but having that taken care of for 9 years seemed like a good thing, plus they reckon they review the rent each year.  Still a while before she's built so got some thinking to do.

Has anyone had any experience actually renting out one of their properties to the DHA?  (rather than just buying one of their already established investment properties)  Keen to hear how they were to work with, etc and if it is as hassle free as it all sounds.

    cheers,

    Scott

really Fredo.  Have you had a bad experience from renting a place out to the Defence Housing?
