    Hi Mini,

“can you speak of some of these issues?”

Well, doing stories on things like killer washing detergent and how to make a million dollars in property in five minutes (but look out for those nasty tenant) type pieces are a start… current affairs? Give me a break…

Also, I know that producers on those shows do try and put words into…[Read more]

Just an addendum… I’m not sticking up for these shows, but I seem to remember that whenever ACA or TT ran a positive property investing story not so long ago, several around here clamoured to tune in… yet they run a negative one here and there, and suddenly they and the rest of the media cop flak… why is that? That little fact only just…[Read more]

    Hi again Mini,

I respect your posts and always enjoy reading them, but I cannot agree with you in this case. The government does not control the media. I can assure you that in the Melb newsroom of 9, we do not give a stuff about government agendas. Yes, government press secretaries always try and put their “spin” on things, but I’m stunned to…[Read more]

    Hi…

As a few of you know, I’m one of the producers for National Nine News here in Melbourne… the real estate horror stories are more for the likes of TT and ACA than us, we just report the fact that interest rates rose, and that some people will be hit by them, because they may have over-committed themselves. That’s a fact. To bolster my…[Read more]

I bought 4 in Rocky in June… average yield over 9.75%, letting them wasn’t a prob. Getting bargains in reasonable nick up there now is pretty hard

    Fields,

Your comment fewer people are renting because most now own a house.

What stats have you seen to back this up?

    George,

Be careful about generalising, my mum raised my brother and I after our dad was killed in a plane accident 2 months before I was born, which makes her a single mother… it was a battle for her to bring us up, even with some token government assistance. I now have a good job, my brother’s an airline pilot and my mum is still the most…[Read more]

    Hi Bear,

I know you’re a regular, and I read many of your posts, but I have to disagree that loopholes are there to be used. I hope they close up every loophole in the FHOG legislation as soon as possible, to stop people rorting the system more than is already the case. FHOG should only go to people who are buying their first home. At the end of…[Read more]

    I’m detecting a strong anti-media tone in your posts… they’re not all bad!![:D]

    Hi guys,

I’m just helping out Steve, okay? I don’t get paid for it, I just drop in and out through the day, trying to keep the place worthwhile. I have little to no interest in the spats between Bill and Pinky, except that when they escalate there’s no value in letting it continue.

    Arty,

Any post where you swear at someone is going to get deleted.

This is now a pointless thread, so I’m locking it, if Steve wants to unlock it I’m sure he will.

I’m tipping A-B-A … travelling from work to home and back isn’t deductible, travelling from work to other jobs is… but the final trip home isn’t… I wish it was since I drive 140km a day from home to work and back…

Funny, that’s the same one I received yesterday… I recall a story in the Good Weekend section of The Age a while ago which had the stories of some of the people in the US who had been ripped off, with some even killed after travelling to Nigeria.

Hi new kid and welcome aboard,

There has been a lot of discussion about this, and if you’re willing to wear the risk of basically defrauding the government for your own personal gain, go ahead. Personally I don’t think using the FHOG for an investment property is ethically right. You have to live in it at some point. If you’re going to live in…[Read more]

As long as a person is not offensive, agressive or rude then we are surely able to tolerate each other and utilise each other.

Just about sums it up Bronwen

    Pinky,

I think several of your statements are a gross over-reaction.

Yes it’s fine to be yourself, but whatever happened to that simple word respect? Not just for you but for others as well… or is the world getting to be so tied up in me it’s too easy to forget we ?

It’s your choice whether you stick around or not, just as it’s Steve’s choice…[Read more]

    Arty,
I’m on 60 acres up near Kilmore… spent a lot of time researching prices etc before we bought 12 months ago, and up that way is definitely where you get best bang for your buck… prices have moved since we bought, but it’s still affordable… I commute each day into Richmond, it’s 60 minutes at the moment, but once the Craigieburn bypass…[Read more]

    Cheers guys,

You two are some of the ones I was referring to in terms of the “old timers” whose posts made me keep coming back in the early days, which really isn’t that long ago… and that offer to help out with a reno for you still stands… not sure if I’ve given you my email… jaldridge@nine.com.au

    Hi Del,

It’s not just a joke on the government, by extension it’s a joke on us, cos we’re the suckers paying for these people via our taxes… that’s what gets me angry.[:(!]

    Hi guys,

I have to admit I don’t read many of crashy’s posts (sorry crashy) but some of this stuff here is bordering on defamatory, so I’d make sure I was certain of things before I started making assertions. I don’t know either way if he’s the real deal or not… but I do know that people can be defamed via internet forums.
