Haven’t things changed from our parents day!

I’m self employed and can work the hours I want so the more time I can spend at home with my boys (aged 5 & 3) the better. They grow up far to fast. Make the most of it and spend every precious moment with them.

PS Music person… Now’s the time to play “Cats In The Cradle”

    Cheers,
    Pete

    Hi Voigtstr,

Just read your posting as we have been without the internet for 2 weeks (My god, what did we do without it) while we moved from Bellerive to Tranmere.

We would be interested in an investors club if there are enough like minded people,

    Cheers,
    Pete & Jackie

    Hi Wylie,
    Know exactly what you mean.

We used to own a travel agency in a small country town. We learnt very quickly that you could never judge people at all, definatly not by what they wear or how they acted as a lot of farmers (mainly orchardists) would come into town in their work clothes, very down to earth, however with loads of money.

Anyone in sales should remember never to judge someone on appearence if at all. As you said you were well dressed.

Some people should never be let loose on the public.

Back to the topic. We have just built a spec home and have used a dark grey carpet that, although not being everyones cup of tea, has been quite popular.

    Cheers,
    Pete

From what I’ve seen, renderers seem to tint the render (eg light or dark) depending on the final colour which is painted on. It is a lot thicker than normal paint and, I think they call it armour.

    Thanks for that Building Surveyor.

The property is in Tassie. I’m not sure if the rules are the same.

We Have a property with a single dwelling, single storey covenant on it that we are in the process of trying to get removed. A very slow process by the way.

The only thing is that the next door neighbour who has the same covenant on their property, has built a 2nd storey extension. Should this give us any additional bargaining power if it has already been done?

    Regards,
    Pete

Flight Centre are a very dynamic & fun company to work for. That is where I got my foot in the door in travel. I had 3.5 years with them with the last year as manager of an office. Check their website as I think it might give you an idea of what they are looking for. I finished with them in 1998, things might have changed a bit since then, but back then they preferred people who had done a bit of travelling. Sales ability is very important & a degree (which I didn’t have) was another bonus. They are constantly looking for new staff as the turnover rate is quite high and the best part is that they don’t need you to have any formal travel qualifications as they do all training inhouse. A lot of other agency chains require you to have the qualifications before they will give you a job.

As I say it was 1998 when I finished with them and things might have changed, however I think they are a great company to start with.

    Hi Milly,

I have the solution to your PPOR renovation/ maintenance needs.
Put it on the market! (just joking)

It’s amazing how things seem to get done when you have the pressure of getting it ready for sale.

This has happenned with my last 2 PPOR’s. Neither of them were completely finished until we were selling them.

    Regards,
    Pete

    TMA,

Good luck. It’s great fun. Can be very stressful, however I’m sure it’s nothing you can’t cope with.

Considering travel industry at the moment because I can’t get into the banks as they say I am “too qualified”

    Hi Rob,
Former travel agent here. What area of the travel industry are you looking at getting into? I had about 10 years in the travel industry and have recently got back into building houses (carpenter by trade)as it was paying better and complimented our property investing goals.
    Regards,
