    Hi all,

I too am in this same position. I am with the CBA and they said they can provide me with a reference letter. Well it’s not really a letter, just a slip with the banks name on it and my account details. Hmmm they want $15 for writing out my account details on a piece of paper. What the?

Anyone else received a reference letter from the CBA?

You can get it done in 2 days if you are prepared to pay a little extra.

    Hi vatel,

I would take your time. There is no point rushing out to do anything. The market in NZ has slowed down, but that doesn’t mean there are no deals out there. It’s just harder to find them. I would spend a lot of time researching before you fly over there.

    Hi Kitty,

I hope you don’t only have this person’s name? I also hope you have some form of contract drawn up that says this person owes you money. If not, you may be in a bit of trouble.

I would suggest going to the Police station and making a report. The generally have the resources to search for people.

    Hi oshen,

I am in a similar situation myself. Tenants are paying $130 which is below market rents in the area. They have agreed to pay $140, which is also below market rents. I don’t want to push any higher than this at this stage as I don’t want to risk having the home sit vacant.

Speak to your property manager and see what they say. Normally if you give the tenant something in return, they won’t mind a slight rent increase.

    Hi,

I have used, and can recommend Pete Miller. He is from Invercargill, but he may travel out to Balclutha. His details are:

    Mobile – 0276466898

He charges around $300 if I remember correctly.

    Hi Terry,

No, I was referring to the Master Builders Association Building and Home Improvement Show. It’s on this weekend at Caulfield Racecource, in Melbourne (see the link I posted above).

If I was in Sydney, I’d go to the one you mentioned too.

I just found this link for the event:

I’d still like your thoughts from anyone who has attended.

    Hi Leigh,

You are only 1 week into your 3 months adventure. Give it some more time. I think in a few weeks time you will realise how boring it is living in a shoe box ;) Personally I think being confined in a campervan from morning to night will do my head in. At least with normal accomodation, you can socialise with others tourists and sleep a little more comfortably I think. Just my opinion.

    Hi chrisholt452,

I got the same impression from this John guy. He pretty much said when you want to buy, we’ll arrange a meeting, I select a property, then he will then me everything and it will all fall into place… but he won’t tell me anything before then… Ummmm yeah no worries!

Dale is excellent I hear, but only for Australia tax laws. I recall asking about NZ tax laws a while back and he told me he doesn’t touch it.

    redwing,

Yeah, I’ve known Westan for a while and know about his US operation well. The reason for contacting this guy in Sydney was purely out of curiosity, just to see what he was offering.

Is he from Sydney? I think I know who you are referring to. I’ve been trying to contact him for the past week. Still trying….

    Marvin,

Apparantly (from what I have heard), there is no rich dad. I think it’s a little gimmick he uses portray his stories. As does Peter Spann… the ‘wealthy friend’ he is always referring to is actually a number of people who helped him get where he is today.

    Hi lei,

I attended one of Kiyosaki’s seminars last year in Melbourne. It’s not the coaching program you mention, but here are my thoughts on Kiyosaki. I think his books are great when starting out. I read a couple of his books in the begining which changed the way I see things. It made me realise that I don’t want to work till I’m old and that there are better and easier ways to make money!

Going back to his seminar, I thought it was a rip off (even though I had free tickets)! Sure he knows what he’s talking about, but when he spends 75% of the seminar trying to sell/promote his products, you have to question his motives. This coaching program of his might be good, I don’t know. But I think you’d be better off spending some money on books and also spend a lot of time reading through these forums. Also network with like-minded people as you learn a lot from people who are doing what you want to be doing.

    Regards.

I wouldn’t worry too much. You haven’t attended the seminar, nor have you provided your credit card details. It’s going to be a little hard for them to get money from you, unless you have signed something that has hidden costs in the fine print.
