Bunnings being built too! Supposed to open by Easter 2019! :)
So. I see lots of gloom and doom in the papers about the bottom falling out of the RE market, and there is talk of a notable drop in values. Regardless of politics, I hear that Labor plans to reduce the CGT discount, and eliminate negative gearing. Election probably first half of the year; at time of writing this, TAB is firmly predicting a Labor…[Read more]

I am currently looking at purchasing a purpose built student accommodation unit. The kind that has several bedrooms with ensuites off a central lounge/kitchen area, with each room rented separately, sited close to a university. Returns look ok; basically it looks like if one of the rooms is rented all the time it covers body…[Read more]
See link. They’re talking about starting construction mid-2018, and creating up to 100 construction jobs.

I reckon Canungra might do ok out of the Commonwealth Games.
I’ve been following the development of the Coopers Gap wind farm, on the basis that it’s appearance might be good for the area. Not just for immediate jobs and power generation, but for tourism as well. It’s ~50km from Kingaroy, and will apparently produce a couple of hundred jobs for the area during construction.
Construction starts September…[Read more]

So, Ajay, what did you end up doing?

The Coopers Gap wind farm, roughly 50km from Kingaroy, is set to proceed to construction. This is an $850 million project, and is currently set to be Australia’s largest wind farm upon completion. Construction is due to start later this year, with 200 construction jobs planned. Will be interesting to see what this does for the…[Read more]

You could scan through the medians in the real estate investment mags, and highlight the ones that look interesting. Actually, you might also like to check out “Your Investment Property” online. Lots of useful info there. Good luck!
Further to that, there is now more info on the planned Kingaroy Bunnings.
I’ll mention something else. A major problem with having a place far away is organising repairs. Basically, you can’t easily do minor repairs or evaluate big ones there yourself. Property manager will probably be happy to organise it for you, but it costs money, and they sometimes want stupid things done, and if you’re far away you can’t really…[Read more]
Well, Beenleigh’s on the train line, so convenient to public transport. Infrastructure includes 2 fair sized shopping centres. Logan Hyperdome is also just down the road. An abbatoir is a major employer. BMX track present. Suburb is on the highway, roughly halfway between Brisbane and Gold Coast, so probably something like 30-40 minutes to either…[Read more]
Canungra is a relatively lower priced town that still has pretty good yields and is not far from Surfers Paradise (say around 40 minutes). Not much for sale there at the moment, but it might get a boost from the Commonwealth Games next year. Logan area, maybe check out Beenleigh. Solid growth there last few years, on the train line, and I doubt…[Read more]
