    Don't talk about frites, mayonnaise and chocolates :) Makes me homesick :) Where abouts did you go in Belgium?

    I missed a call from the real estate guy about an hour ago. Very interested to see what he has to say. He knows exactly what my budget is, so why would he bother to ring, he knows I wouldn't be able to go up to 500K or 600K. Unless he's wanting to ask me on a date hahahaha…

    Hi all,

    Here how the auction went….

    There were about 15 parties but only 4 that were bidding. All 3 appartments got bids, but they all ended up being passed in. 2 at 400K and the slightly bigger one at 430K. After the first highest bid of 370K the auctioneer got on the phone with the bank and came back putting in an offer on behalf of the vendor of 400K. Now, does that mean the reserve price was 400K and 430K respectively? If somebody would have put in a bid for 405K, would it have gone for that?

    I'm really curious to know if they sold today. I will follow up with the real estate tomorrow.

    Hi Kane,

    Thanks for that. I'm originally from Belgium. My dad passed away in August last year and because I live overseas, the bank has blocked all accounts for up to 7 months (I know ridiculous). I have some money (enough for 10% deposit) sitting in an account they couldn't block, but the rest of the money is still blocked. It has been 6 months now, so hopefully it shouldn't be too much longer.  

    I will definitely go the auction on Sunday and cross my fingers the units won't go for 300K :):):):)  I think I will be sick if they do.

    The guy who owned the units is a very high profile person. He owns many many properties (residential and commercial) and I'm not sure what went wrong here. I'm sure there's a good reason, but I'm also sure this whole thing doesn't worry him too much.

    Anyway… I will keep you updated on how the auction went.

    You're right.. I'm being naive. He just wants me to get the auction started. I will be keeping my hands in my pocket, but I will still go and see how the auction goes :)

    I agree… usually when it's too good to be true, it is.

    I will go to the auction on Sunday and see what happens. But I think I'm going to keep my hands in my pocket :)

    I just came back from my first seminar (Positive Real Estate). I was really surprised about how few people attended. I excpected a full house, but there were only 11 of us.

    Really interesting though. I feel like I learnt something, which is a good feeling. I'm even more motivated now.

    On avergare, how much $ would I be looking at if I were to agree to get a mentor to hold my hand?

    Dear all,

    Thank you so much for all your responses. I'm getting more and more excited about the whole property investing business.

    I actually went and bought a few books today (one of them being 0 to 130 properties in 3.5 years – revised edition, and only paid $22.95 :) ) Also bought Investing in the right property now by Margaret Lomas. This is the one I started reading today and I haven't been able to put it down yet. I'm glued to it. Although this is just the beginning of my journey, I feel like I have already learned a few things.

    Not sure if anybody could guide me in the right direction with this query. As I have mentioned I have a bit of money coming my way. My dad recently passed away (hence the money coming my way). I'm originally from Belgium where I spent the past 2 months to attend his funeral and spent time with my family. I'm back in Australia now, but am thinking of moving back to Belgium for a few years. What I want to do is buy an investment property here (cash flow would be my preference) and hold on to it for a few years until I come back, and expand my portfolio from then onwards.

    Does anybody know how this situation would work with regards to tax, mortgage etc etc etc… Or could anybody guide me in the right direction of where to get this information from.

    Thank you all very much very your feedback. I still have a few months left before that money is coming my way, so I will spent that time researching, learning, listening, asking, reading…

    I am going to my first  'Property Investing' seminar on Monday night. Is anybody familiar with Positive Real Estate? They are the people organising the seminar.
