I would have thought a mortgage broker could show you how to do these things as well. then a bit of personal discipline will monitor it – rather than paying someone big bucks (which could come off your mortgage) to do this for you.

Be aware that a lot of the owners stump up the money prior to auction and get to keep their house.

If you have your eye on one particular place you might want to contact the owner direct, (note above point though). If you’re just looking for a ‘bargain’ I would probably wait until auction so you know what will be sold…

Have you had a look at somersoft? They have an area where you can sell properties, so I’m assuming you could put your plan up there?

What’s the timeframe for return of $$$? What are you offering to the private investors?

What sort of security is being offered – mortgages/guarantees/nothing?

Put signs up at Uni – talk to the accomodation people, the students help office (or whatever it’s called) etc. etc.

Might be wise to secure a place first, and then advertise for students – as long as the demand is there, and it’s a good place etc.

Do a search for previous posts, there’s a few people on here who do the same sort of thing.
