    You can also find ppty for sale in NZ at
    http://www.realestate.co.nz
    This site is very informative and some agents display the address of the ppty so you can then reseach sales data and values for that ppty & suburb

    Information on Coucil valuations is available from http://www.terranet.co.nz and they also have other useful reports and the prices are very realistic, I have used this service many times to look at rates info and previous sales for a specific property. Another useful resouce is http://www.qv.co.nz
    they do valution type reports, a little more expensive, I have used them in Wellington for full Valuations and a depreaction schedule.

    My bank in NZ also suggested that I take out some contents insurance to cover carpets curtains etc.

    Then there is the issue of Landlord insurance, A must in my opinion Rentsure is my choice here. Good price and reasonable cover.
