    thanks guys

a flat was inherited while we were married (we are still married but separated a month ago) which WE finished reno'ing and sold it, money put into a savings account under her name.  But this thing with this stuff is, that if the wife wants to , she can just empty the money out before the divorce/ if the divorce go's through.  So If I was the wife and wanted to be mean, i would just empty that account and put the cash somewhere or in the mothers safe or something.  Or am I missing something?

Thanks Dukster, but now its even more confusing.  I dont know how they could make it any harder to understand.  I have bills from energy australia and they split the MJ up into two sections, then the australian power and gas have 4 different steps in their calculations.  Then the online calculators say something altogether different.  I rathered it when there was just one, no confusion then.  <moderator: delete offensive comment>

Real kick in the guts from them, my contract with agents rep has their name with question mark after it at the top of contract note.  Really dont want to be bothered going via Vcat and everything and I contacted the other conveyancer the other day so chances are she has already done these searches as well so they will probably go to waste.  Should I just return the paper work to solicitors with a letter, or should I get agents rep to handle it?

Thanks for your reply, sensible with some humour at the end which made me laugh!  Yes, you have to weigh up the "agro" dont you?  I was thinking of not even worrying about the property, but I guess 50 grand (half) is 50 grand.   I would rather avoid it to be with my boys as they are at an age where I think it would make them pretty upset, but I guess kids can be pretty strong and understanding as well.

Well, no offence it someone lives there, but as far as Geelong is concerned, I wouldnt touch Corio or Norlane with a 50 foot barge pole, too many scum bags burning down houses and raping/killing etc. bad areas LOL, cheap houses though 148 grand I saw one for on the weekend, not for me though.   I wouldnt even want to go round there with the kids to do reno work in those parts, bad enough visiting the relations who are to tight to move somewhere else!

Well cars lose their value as soon as you drive them out the lot, so a smart buisnessman or investor wouldnt necesarily have a lambo or a X5 or something as they are crappy investments, better to drive something economical and put that extra money into the next IP.
However, that being said,  I have got my eyes set on a Jeep SRT8 when I became wealthy enough which gos against my above comments, but I would try to claim it as some sort of tax break or somehting and wouldnt get it brand new :-).

Oh, forgot to answer the question, we have a little Hyundai Lantra which we bought for 4 grand with 170k on the clock and have a 99 Nissan Patrol on LPG for weekend getaways and travelling.

I like your site, good read!  I like how u say the biggest risk is doing nothing, how true and thats why most people dont do anything to create wealth.
