    Welcome Wayne,

Two things, firstly you’ll find some great people here on the forum and experts in NZ like Mini-Mogul, Castledreamer, Westan, Wilander and others.

Secondly stay away from those type of property seminars, they only want you to buy what they sell – no teducate you.

There’s no doubt that Rich Dad Poor Dad has started a lot of us off on this journey. Another one worth a read is John Fitzgerald – Seven Steps to Wealth, although he tends to focus a lot on depreciation it does give you yet another perspective of welath creation.

Thanks Westan, good luck and let’s see if anyone wants to outbid you.

I hope your brother and brother-in-law get along ok, could be nasty both of them at the game.

Of course there is the view that you are charged a lot for these seminars so that you really get involved in the learning. If they were cheap it wouldn’t weed out those who aren’t serious enough about doing the work..?

Robert Allen says he charges enough to make it hurt so you do take it seriously.

    Good luck with it Geo

Hey Geo I reckon go for it. At the end of the day it’s not just the information you receive, it’s your decision to take action.

I thought some of his stuff was good – but will probably digest some of his books first.

I think he deserves a bit more credit than HK. After all he has written several best sellers and appears to have wide acclaim amongst other well known respected gurus.

I agree with Alan and Marc. I went today in Melbourne and I knew he would get around to the “pay $5000 to come to my special course and learn” scenario. However I also picked up a few interesting tips in the 2 hours and went away with a bit of a battery charge.

SIS he got a lot of candidates signing up with him today, I reckon well over 50, but hey for some of these people that may just be what they need to get themselves going.

I’ve also heard the One Minute Millionaire is a good read.

Very good Chan, but you’d be amazed at the number of people who try to work it out.

    new riddle

3 men go into a car yard to buy a car. There is one for $30 so they pay the salesman $10 each. The saleman goes and tells the boss, he tells the salesman to give them $5 back. Because he can’t split $5 evenly be puts $2 in his pocket and gives them $1 each back.

Therefore they have paid $9 each for the car. Three x $9 = $27 plus the $2 in the salesman’s pocket = $29. Where’s the other dollar gone ????

Travel Agent here! So at least with my portfolio building in NZ (thanks to Mini, Castledreamer et al) I can get around cost effectively.

    Hi again Geo

You probably have to shop around to find an accountant who is savvy enough to fit your needs. I’ll PM you with my accountants details who is quite switched on but be warned, he is knocking back a lot of clients these days as he has more than he needs. Still worth a call..

I’m just setting up a Trust now and my accountant says $500 tops. I’m not going to the trouble of setting up a company on top of it for added protection because I’m just not convinced it’s necessary.

I know what your saying however I wanted to check on the likelyhood and histoy of someone being sued and risking all their assets. I haven’t been able to find any cases of it and have some reservation about the worth of it.

It’s somewhat bread&butter for many accountants and I wonder if this is the reason some recommend it.

Welcome back Westan. Sounds like you need to stretch your next set of goals if you’re achieving them so easily.

Write ém down I say. To know where you are going you need a map. Review it regularly and it helps you stay focused.

I need short-term and long-term goals or else I’d question why I’m getting out of bed in the morning.
