I met a couple on the day of handover and where told they were offered 270k by a RE agent for the home they paid 200K for. I was also lucky to land a job in the outback that limited my ability to spend anything at all! A bit extreme but it worked. I still empty all gold coins into a savings jug everyday to keep up the savings habit.
