It has been my understanding that for your normal building insurance, you had to have that organised asap after both parties signed the contract( before settlement – regardless if it is a IP or PPOR)- I know most if not all financiers will require it, – this is in QLD mind you, – I dont know what the deal is with other states.

Foston, I agree break ins happen everywhere, this is a sad and costly fact of life, but on the other hand there are also areas that have a higher crime rate than others!

When I perform credit checks on people here in Oz I always do a NZ check if the person applying has been in Australia less than 12 months, as for NZ -I am not sure if vice versa applies?
