Bairnsdale is a quiet, large, country town.It has gorgeous beaches within about 1/2 hour drive.
I don’t think it has much of a transient population, more generational I would think, although there are gorgeous seaside resorts within 1/2 hr drive,which are popular during holiday seasons, and very quiet in the off season.
A lot of people retire in these areas.
