    Hi Ali G

It’s always hard when you want to share so much with your family and it seems to be a depressing never ending battle when they tell you you can’t do it. My family are wonderful, but I can’t talk to them about it because it always comes back to: I am too greedy (why do you need more than your own home, etc), could lose everything, should have started 30 years ago as I am now too old now, and it goes on.
You know it is because they care, they want you to do well, don’t want to see you lose, but it doesn’t seem like it very much sometimes, does it. Ask yourself what you really have to lose by investing? If you can sleep at night with the worst case senario, go for it. The support on these forums is great. It’s encouraging for someone just reading the posts for others. Good luck and believe in yourself. There are lots of mentors on this site.

    Hi Jason

I did the same thing myself. I changed my home loan to an offset account in the end. It was well worth it. Talk to your lender. They should be happy to help. Later down the track went with the LOC, but that caused a few more issues to set up than the offset account.

    Have fun

Hi. This is my first ever post, and I am just beginning. I love reading these forums. It is really fantastic to see so many people at different ages starting out. As Derek implied, people start when they are ready. Naturally, the earlier the better, but it is never too late. Parents and teachers like Derek are great examples. The tools have been given. It is only a matter of when they will be picked up. Like many others, I wish I had started when I was 17. Congrats Chris on starting. This is the first step for everyone. I know nothing about marina’s but I want to say that this post is an ‘AHA’ for me. Look everywhere for IP’s, not just the standard places. Thank you.

    Hi all

I have just come across this site today and thought I would join in and say hello.

I have been taking my time over about 10 years. Have 3 to date. My biggest problem is getting finance approved. I don’t know how you all manage so many as I keep getting my finance knocked back, even with positively geared properties and a job. From all I have read, I think I will need to sit down and work out a totally different strategy for getting finance. It is obviously possible.

Its great to actually be able to talk to like minded people. My financers keep telling me to buy in the city, not in the country. It is only recently that I even knew others followed the same strategy.

Keep talking. A site like this is great motivation.
    C
