    Hi Elvis,

I think I’m going to need to pass this one to someone more technically adept.. I’m not sure if I understand the difference between bookmarks and the page at https://www.propertyinvesting.com/forum/subscription_list.asp which is a list of topics I’m subscribed to.

I’ll rephrase… While the rest of the PI.com crew are not concentrating on developments to the web-site, neither are the web guys.. Here’s what one of the team is up to.

Re: Bookmarking – are talking about ‘bookmarking’ your favorite posts so that they are available on the forum homepage?
We do have a ‘subscriptions’ facility at the moment, which allows you to receive a message whenever someone replies to a post on the forums, and also see all your favorite topics by clicking the ‘subscriptions’ button on the menu bar when you’re logged in.

    Great work Daisy [:)]

I think it’s odd that more people don’t use the forums to arrange more meetings in their towns and cities[?]
Get together with some like-minded people etc.

There are over 31,000 members on PropertyInvesting.com – why not tap into the resource?

    Hi Jaffasoft,

I think we may have found the cause.

Because of your last post, it made me take another look at what was actually happening…
I went through the code, and initially couldn’t see any javascript focus code, or onload code which would move the focus to the top of the screen. But, I did find a .js file.

I asked Alister about this, and it turns out that one of the functions it performs is to put the mouse cursor into the login box at the top of the screen.

Hopefully the solution will be to log into the site.. this should prevent it opening again.

Let me know how it goes

What do you think about having the facilities for a chat room so you could schedule online property investing ‘meetings’ on a set topic, say one evening once a month?

Let me just recap to make sure everything I understand is correct – you say that every time the page finishes loading (which can take some time), it automatically jumps up to the top of the screen?

I believe this is just how Internet Explorer works, and so far as I know, there is no feature which you can use to turn this off.

The actual date for the next upgrade?

The guys are due to come back shortly (within a week I believe), however it will take some time before you begin seeing changes on the site. The first few tasks they will get into will likely be bug-fixes and working on the engine which runs PropertyInvesting.com.

I think this topic has run its course..

    *turns key and locks it*

It’s fair enough to be opinionated in the “Opinionated” forums – but nobody likes flame wars or personal attacks on the forums.

    Hi Sunshine,

With these sort of problems, the more detail we have on what you were doing before the error occurred, and exactly what happened, the better we are able to pinpoint the cause.

If you’d like to post some more detail here, I’ll have a look to see if I can pinpoint the problem

    Hi MarkyMark,

My best guess is that this happened after you entered your e-mail address in the ‘to’ field, and clicked the ‘send’ button… Is this right?

The error is (in cryptic computer jargon) saying that you can only send it to peoples’ PropertyInvesting.com usernames.

The private messaging system is just an internal messaging system and is not compatible with e-mail. This means you can’t forward private messages to your home e-mail account.

    Hi Redwing,

Using the “Printer-Friendly” button will help with the formatting, particularly if text is being printed off the far right-hand side of the page. (See the button at the top of this, and every other, screen which looks like a printer).

However if the problem is that forum posts are printed in a way where one ends the next begins, as opposed to being printed one to a page, then it’s not an error – the site was designed this way.

    Hi Tanya,

The best bet is to try to remember some of the words which appeared in the post and search for it using the search function.

You can find the search function on the left hand side of the screen under “Forum Boards”, or click here https://www.propertyinvesting.com/forum/search.asp

    Hi Tegan,

This isn’t normal… in fact, this is the first time I’ve come across this…

My best guess is that this is caused by your cookie security settings being so secure that PropertyInvesting.com can’t even place a cookie on your computer..

To read about how cookies work, go to http://www.howstuffworks.com/cookie.htm or http://ccc.atmos.colostate.edu/~hail/howto/faq/cookies.htm

To change your cookie settings, one of the easiest explanations I’ve seen is at http://www.barclaycard.co.uk/Customer_Service/Help/TandC/Privacy_Policy/Cookies/change_settings.html

    Hi Shushar,

I’m not totally sure how it works, but messages seem to stay in my outbox until I delete them.

    Is this normal?

To be honest, no. It was caused by a very old glitch on the site.

Usually this would have been ‘cleaned up’, but because one username has records of all your orders, and the other has records of all your forum posts, we decided to keep both.

    Hi,

    Re: Forum Subscriptions

I have now discovered there is a facility in the top right hand corner of the page.

Yep – once you’re signed in, you’ll get the tan envelope with the Green plus sign in several places..

If you’re having trouble spotting them, first log into PropertyInvesting.com by using the log-in box in the blue area at the top of this page.

After it says “You are logged in as…”, you will notice the envelope at the top of each forum post near “Add Reply”, the bottom of each forum post between “Add Reply” and “Fast Reply”, when you make a reply, and on the topic listing within each forum.

    Re: Smilies..

More smilies are scheduled in the near future.. Stay tuned for more news as it breaks. [:)]

Overall I think the site is a BIG improvement. Especially the facility for one to email the writer of a particular post. And the speed, unbelievable.

I’m glad you enjoy it. Nick and Alister, our web-gurus, have put a lot of work into the site and it looks great.

Keep your feedback and bug reports coming in.
