I had a bad credit record in the UK but it doesnt seemed to have followed me to Australia – if i am applying for finance for a house would they dig a bit deeper and track down my old UK credit record?

I moved to Australia last Dec from the UK on a 457 New Zealand partner visa. I own a property in the UK which I want to sell and use the capital gain to fund property investment here The big question is will i be able to get finance on a partner visa? can anyone give me any help or advice with this?
