I’m in Mornington VIC and our costs going solo were around 15K. You’d expect to pay a premium when there is no risk i suppose. But it’s all about risk and return, sound like a good deal to me, get it approved or no payment. A nice safe way to learn.

    G’day,

There will be mandatory disclosure of your homes energy rating brought in in 2011. This means you’ll have basically a star rating on your sale board. In Canberra where this is already mandatory 1 extra energy star means about an extra 10K at sale time, when two properties are about the same, and the only difference in the energy rating.

Again, at construction if you spend a little more on say a hot water system that could turn into a great return.

    Food for thought

Sounds like I too may be stuck – I have a heavily treed block so I can't even get satellite tv let alone solar to work, gas isn't viable as it is very hilly/rocky and hasn't been extended to our street.

Are all-electric heat pump/electric boosted combo systems available?

Yes there are electric booster systems available, and once Bosch launch their solar systems, they will have these as apart of their range as they realise gas isn’t everywhere.

    Hope this helps

In my latest electricity bill I noticed that electric hot water units will be phased out from 2012 for existing dwellings. The only exceptions will be where gas is not available. That means the price of electric units will probably rise once they  become scarce.

You’re spot on, i forgot to mention that one. Thanks for adding to this thread. What will become huge will be solar hot water systems. For the uninitiated, solar systems literally use the heat the sun creates to heat water and then store that in a storage tank. When you come to use hot water that water then leaves the storage tank and goes through an instant gas hot water system, and if it needs the heat raised this is when it will use gas to do so. If the tank is full of water at the set desired temperature it will simple pass through the instant system without using and gas (or electricity) hence your whole hot shower is hot due to the sun.

So when choosing solar hot water or water tank, in my opinion go solar, it will save you on average $6 (from Bosch) a week, and will lessen your impact on the environment.

Or as i will be doing, get both :)

Sorry to take so long Ryan, we are moving this long weekend to our new premesis which are much larger. Can’t wait :)

Do you know Taylor’s Sauces & Marinade’s you find at woolies and coles? My father in law started that back int eh 80’s. Michael Taylor. It’s now owned by Coke. He then moved into appliances supplying The GoodGuys and Retravision stores etc.. and pulled out of them to start this model.

As an appliance company we’ve had control for just over 10 years, with the company going back 26. Renovi is the new baby which is growing very fast.

We have just launched our points redemption system, and are apart of the advantage card by master builders.

We are a Master Builder’s Supply member, display with the Home Ideas Centre and Home Innovation and Display Centre, and advertise with Kitchens & Bathrooms Quarterly and HIA Housing Magazine as well as other’s.

I hope this builds trust in who we are and what we do.

Our business is built around your kind of need, buying online in your own time and getting great product, and a great price, and within a great time period.

PS would you like to have a look at this link: http://www.renovi.com.au/forum.cfm – we’d love your input under general?

    Cheers Adam

In my opinion, get on your local council website and learn as much as you personally can about their rules and reg’s etc.. The greatest help i’ve had recently came from a builder who specializes in my particular area. So if you are going the whole way get in touch with a few builders until you find one that can become your greatest asset.

Otherwise, it’s worth the money to work with a town planner (private one, not the council town planner) as that’s their job.

Hope this helps in some way.

    Wow, great job.

We just finished our 3×1 that we bought for $255 Oct 2008 at the depth of the GFC and we just received approval for subdivision and the build of a 3 x 2.

All helps when you know where to find cheap appliances, basins and vanities etc.

    Hi,

As an eBay seller and Director of http://www.renovi.com.au I thought some might like to be informed that we exist.

We are Australia’s Online Building & Renovating Supplies Store. We used to supply some of the largest retailers in the country, so we have plenty of experiance within the industry, around 26 years in fact. Now we supply builders and renovators direct. Everything from ovens, cooktops, rangehoods, dishwashers, vanities, basins, taps, sinks, showers and more. We already ship all over Australia daily with TNT for fast reliable freight, and we’re moving this Easter to much larger premises in Carrum Downs Vic

I’m also an investor myself onto my first small subdivision & build development, and an avid reader and subscriber to Australia Property Invesotr Magazine and refresh on Steve’s books every couple of years. (Thanks Steve, you have been an inspiration)

Feel free to explore our site and keep us in mind for the future
