I own a highset in Redcliffe. It meets the requirements for a duplex, ie 20m frontage & enough square meters. Question is, can the existing house be split in 2? There is legal height underneath, so theres plenty of room.

What would be involved? Im guessing a brick wall to seperate, subdivide the land, new entrances, internal stairs, new plumbing & wiring, 2nd driveway, water etc.

Is this a dumb idea? Would the resulting properties be worth less than a normal duplex?

Surely the best place to start would be at the local council, someone there should be able to give you information on the requirements.

    Hello Crashy

Raise it up to 2.4m and split it down the middle and turn it into 4 flats/units. Go hard…….. [strum]
