I’m an accountant, and know very little about trusts. When I first read that comment about deducting movie tickets, my first thoughts were, ‘Wow, can you really do that? Sounds iffy!’ But KNOWING that I am NOT a tax expert, my next thoughts were ‘I’d better get more information about this and see if the legal rationale makes sense’.

We’re all here to learn. Strange things happen in the world of accounting and tax and law. Accountants of all people should know that. It’s narrow-minded to just attack something just because it ‘sounds dodgy’. Kerry Packer didn’t pay tax. Sound dodgy? Sure. Was it legal? Yes!

Just attacking something because you don’t understand means you’ll miss out on a lot of opportunities.
