    Hi,

can anyone shed any light on basic taxes, stamp duty, etc. that applies to NZ investing in residential properties. We are in Oz and are trying to work out $ implications of buying in NZ and transferring $ to Oz.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Steve,
I am looking at the same appraoch as you. From what I have been able to find out, there is no stamp duty on property purchase. There is no CGT either, however, haven’t confirmed but I would think it would be captured by Australian tax laws as foreign income.

As James mentioned there is no stamp duty or CGT in NZ,
I would check with an accountant on the CGT issue,
