Sanding and polishing floor boards

Hi all,

I need you advice for my brother who is doing his first reno.

He has sanded,stained and varnished( 2 coats) his floors and he has small air bubbles that feel like sand underfoot. What has he done wrong and is there any way he can fix this problem. He has been working around the clock on this  and has rung me for advise quite stressed out. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What he has done has spent to much time going over the same area to much with the roller or what ever he used and this possibly has created air bubbles . Lightly sand only if re coating time is greater then 48hrs or if still very rough.
Sanding needs to be very lightl using 180-250 paper make sure not to create sanding marks

don't use a roller - as it can cause the air bubbles especially if  the varnish
flicks off roller... apply timber finish with a flat pad.

Thanks so much for your advice. I'm heading there now. It's only 24hrs so we will try another coat but go over quicker this time.

Yes he did use a roller. Will get a flat pad. Thanks very much for your advise.

mez you can use a roller but not your general roller, there a many types on the market that perform differently.
A pad is a better option as suggested.
