Is there such a product.....?

We are going to be renovating a house very soon.  Downstairs the property has no outside walls as such at the moment and we need to put some in.  One option is to use brick and have it rendered.  However, is there a product I could use which would be easier than using bricks?  Is there some sort of ready-made concrete board, which is obviously waterproof, made in sheets, similar to gyprock?  Can it be rendered over?

Any info or other ideas about cheaper options than brick, which could be rendered over would be great.

Thanks

Rudi.

yes there is.. blue board or white board depending on your circumstances then render over with a polymer type product pre-mixed in large tubs specially designed for this use.

If it doesn't have walls, then it probably doesn't have sufficient footings for walls (loadbearing or not). You will also need to consider waterproofing (set-down on slab) as well as wind loading and the effect on the existing structure.

Once you address those issues, you could consider timber stud construction with cladding (weatherboard/corrugated iron, blueboard etc)

Hi

Thanks for the responses.  Blueboard sounds like the perfect product.

Thanks for that info as well Scott - the previous owners had planned to do the same as us and had already obtained planning stuff from the council and laid a new slab etc with approval, so hopfully that covers the other issues.
