Women's Soccer's Barnes Named to d3kicks.com Team of the Week

New York University women's soccer senior co-captain Katie Barnes was selected as the goalkeeper on the first d3kicks.com Team of the Week of the 2007 season.

Barnes was impressive in posting a pair of shutouts as the Violets captured the season-opening Skidmore College Classic, held Aug. 31-Sept. 1 in Saratoga Springs, NY.

A native of Boston, Barnes recorded seven saves, including five in the second half, as NYU knocked off Skidmore 2-0 on Aug. 31. The following day, the senior put aside three shots, including a critical save in the final two minutes, as the Violets staved off Westfield State College 1-0 to capture the tournament championship.
